Oh. I get it. Start your worst pitcher in hopes it gets rained out.

Im more interested that we are giving smith a start. Guess they are just trying to throw shite at the wall and see what sticks.
Smith did great in his start last week at Notre Dame....six innings (in the 7 inning game), no walks, no runs, struck out four and gave up only four hits.

Ell you are beyond annoying sometimes

You realize Riley was severely limited with soreness in February? If you think he's LSU's worst pitcher or even in the discussion just ell oh ell

Who's in the discussion for the worst? Strall? McKay?

Sure. After the fact just like the coaches. Or are you suggesting they pitched him purposefully while he was sore?

But why should I be excited that he does well vs a ND team that has won only 4 of its last 16 games and only scored 2 runs vs LSU in 18 innings? People were wet over their RPI which is only good because they play in the ACC, not because they are good.

Regardless of my hyperbole, it's still an odd decision to give a guy his second start vs Florida which is a must win series if you want to host a super. The same guy who has only thrown 14 innings all year.

Strall

It's not uncommon for a pitcher to try and pitch through a sore arm. Some have higher thresholds than others...[be my guest to insert a Jake Latz joke here.] Off the top of my head after those 3 apparences he had the 1)drop in velocity 2) tenderness 3) lack of control they shut him down.

You don't have to get excited, this team will be fine whether you're on the bandwagon or not. Trust me he'll be on a short leash.

I get what you're saying but it's baseball... Sometimes the 'throw shite at the wall' strategy is the way to go

People are gonna shite when Florida scores 2 in the first

Throw Lange on Thursday and that game is a must win for LSU.

Friday game is a throw away if you win on Thursday

Saturday you hope that Poche is better than their number 3 guy

Best strategy to Win 2 out of 3 IMO which is all paul is trying to do

Excellent analysis. I didn't think of it that way. I like the concept and hope it bears fruit.

Gilbert had his chance. Let Smith have a chance as the series opener starter. I got the fridge stocked.

Hope you realize Florida's #3 guy could be a #1 for a lot of teams in the country.

Smith has been good lately... keep in mind, he was penciled in as the Sunday guy to start the season before he got hurt.

I'm not sure Gilbert has the endurance to be a starter. As of now anyway.
