Yes, Smith's ERA is bad, but does it reflect how he is pitching at this moment? His last two outings have been good. Sometimes at the end of the season, it can be a plus to throw a guy that the opponent doesn't have a lot of tape on. I absolutely hope that they have a "Plan B" in case this doesn't work and that they pull the plug and eject if this backfires, but I am willing to give it a shot.
Hopefully Devall. Not much in the book on him.

Imo, tcu was better than lsu last year, and stony brook was better than lsu in 12. Houston, meh, they just caught lightning in a bottle. And PM going with mccune.

quote:I just don't like the lateness of trying someone out. It's been the same story for a couple years now and it hasn't worked out. We get hot late... we fly through a regional, then something happens when we need a 3rd pitcher to come through. I wasn't a big fan of Gilbert getting starts, but I was fine with doing something because Valek was falling apart and so was Poche to some extent. What about Norman? That's who I would try to stick with... but as you so often say, maybe there's something they see behind the scenes that I don't. I see a 3.30 ERA with a 0.224 OpBA along with good location for the most part.

You just can't get over that TCU hook he got, huh?

I have no problem with ell's posts. This is the Rant. He is not always negative. He's been on the pro-Robertson bandwagon all season long. Yes, he questions coaching decisions most of the time, but many posters do. That is part of being a fan IMO. I enjoy the banter.

Well we didn't start our ace because of.... #matchups

Their pitching sucked, but our offense approach in game 2 and 3 was atrocious.

Of all the retard in-game postseason pitching decision by PM, that's only 5th worst.

Besides his inning last night, his last 2 appearances were a bit rough location-wise...4 walks in 3.2 innings vs. Arkansas in the rally game and 2 walks in 0.2 innings vs. Notre Dame when he was trying to hold a 3-0 lead in the 7th.

I still have nightmares about the athletically challenged outfield that LSU put out there for that Super Regional.

OoohhhOoohhh, rank them.
Cartwright, McCune, Gausman close followed by starting him, saving Cotton in Omaha, then Newman's hook?

This, x1000000.
How did we get to the point where we had 3 first basemen in the outfield?

We had a 27 man that had 17 catchers and first basemen. It was bound to happen.

Smith: last 2 appearances very good.
Norman: last appearance...1 IP...very good...the two before that were shaky.
Maybe Norman is the backup plan in case Smith doesn't pitch well. I would be on board with that.

I strenuously object. Lose both and you are not in the same place as the other two.

4th is Godfrey from the pen last year.
5th is pulling Norman.
I separate the two because they are independently stupid.
