c'mon man...

What other college football teams traditional play on Thanksgiving night?

Well, they're asking us to, what makes you think they wouldn't ask someone else to?

I'm not a big tailgater, I get to the campus at about 4:00 for a 7:00 game. However I do understand that for many thousands of people, a Thanksgiving Night game will totally screw up their tailgating fun. It's part of what make LSU night games so great.
I'd be shocked if tailgating to a massive hit because of this game being on thanksgiving night. I honestly think it'll be better than most of the Friday 2pm games against Arky.

do you not know how scheduling works?

A&M wants to sub UT out for LSU the last game of the season.

Arkansas wants to make Missouri it's end of the year opponent. The Iron bowl & Egg Bowl are already locks.

Who else is going to get asked?

Morons don't realize that it's a pretty big deal to play on thanksgiving.

I don't see any way this doesn't improve Thanksgiving all the way around. Eat turkey, dressing until you are in a food coma and sit back and enjoy watching the Tigers. Win all the way around. Hanging around with family all day is way overrated anyway. I'm ready to haul arse at my parent's house or my in-law's house after about 2 hours of visiting and eating anyway.

Putting this game on Turkey Day prime is a smart move for the league and TV ratings

The "last" A&M-UT game in that time slot last year got a 2.4 rating. In 2009 it was a 3.7. That's an historic rivalry. By contrast last years LSU-Arky game got a 6.1 on Friday, Au-bama in 2010 got a 7.5 and a 4.8 in 2009. The 2010 LSU Arky game on a Sat got a 4.2, 2011 Iron Bowl on sat a 4.3. 2009 UF-FSU got a 5.1 on sat. Id link but I'm on my phone, but please tell me how it will help us to play on a Holiday night.

ETA: the Ravens-49ers game from last Thx, on opposite tamu-ut game got a 4.1 on the fricking nfln.

I don't give a shite about any fan considerations regarding this game. None at all. I think this is absolute bullshite, and that LSU should make a big effort to get out of this date. I do not think LSU should agree to play 2n SEC opponents in 5 days at the tail end of a season. That is just stupid. This game is very detrimental to the players, and possibly to an LSU title run.

You think Nick Saban would allow the Iron Bowl to move to Thanksgiving Night?

We will be at a huge disadvantage in team preparation. Coach Chavis does not run a complicated scheme. He just let's the athletes do their thing (which I'm not complaining about, cause we for dang sure have the athletes). We all know that a Les Miles offense, regardless of the quarterback, will not be very complex either. 3rd and short? Tailback power toss.

To be fair, A&M & UT weren't exactly top contenders last season and it's a bit ridiculous to try and compare the Au-bama in 2010 & 2010 LSU Arky game to them.

It took 5 pages for someone to bring up Saban. Awesome.

How is it terrible?

The night NFL game is on the fricking NFL Network, it would be the only thing on when everybody AND their grandmother is sitting around the TV with nothing else to do.

It's brilliant.

The aggies at my new most hated SEC opponent bc of the infestation I have been exposed to here in Houston. THEY ARE THE ABSOLUTE WORST!!! None of them are realist. I can't wait to cream them year in and year out, especially on Thanksgiving when the whole country is watching.

What the frick? That will supress attendance and limit our home field advantage. Dumb.

I brought up Saban because this is another example of the SEC telling LSU to STFU. NickSaban griped every year he was at LSU about the Friday game. The SEC ignored him. The SEC thought it would be a good idea for the Iron Bowl to played in the Friday slot. Bama was forced to do it for one rotation, but Nick Saban complained and the SEC said, "We're sorry Alabama, when would you like to play? Hey LSU, GFY, you're back on Friday."
