Thanksgiving night is just a fantastic atmosphere for a game. You have a choice of either doing an early Thanksgiving dinner, doing a Thanksgiving tailgate, or worst case doing a Friday Thanksgiving. We usually do the tailgate and it is pretty special, there is something really cool about getting together with friends and family in the shadow of Kyle Field and eating traditional Thanksgiving food mixed in with a few special tailgate items. Watch the Cowboys game and then it's showtime. BTW, every other year CBS will broadcast the Cowboys and would likely pick this game as well meaning that at every commercial break they would be hyping the game since the NFL night game is on NFL Network.
I do understand that some people don't like the idea of the "short week" but what you forget is the "long week" if you make the Championship game. Play on Thursday night and you have an extra day or two on whomever else you are playing. Typically schedule a patsy or do a bye week prior anyway.
It's laughable that people think it would hurt attendance as well. As if LSU fans will pass up going to a guaranteed night game on national telecvision against A&M because it is inconvenient. For Ags it is part of our DNA to play on Thanksgiving. It's also great to play Thanksgiving night so that you can really enjoy the rest of the weekend. Either sit back and enjoy rivalry weekend from your couch or sports bar or go hunting (still got a 3 day weekend) or go shopping if you must.
Playing on Thanksgiving is special, playing Friday or Saturday is just like everyone else.

@ aggressor LSU is not Texas. If you wanted to continue to play on ThanksgiVings, you should haVe stayed in the Big 12. Friday works well for me and a lot of my friends, it's black friday, the women and kids go shopping and the men gather to watch football in peace

The more I think about it, the more I actually like the idea. Thanksgiving night college football prime time. It's a good move, although some fans will hate it the first year.
Everyone eats during the day, then goes to tiger stadium in the afternoon. Only thing that sucks is if it's away. Can't do thanksgiving with fam and make the game IMO

LSU and Texas A&M - Primetime on Thanksgiving
our stadium lacks in atmosphere and isn't full on fri after thanksgiving.
so moving it to the actual holiday gonna make that better?
is everyone brain dead??!!!
I've been to the last 3 games at Tiger Stadium the day after Thanksgiving and this couldn't be any further from the truth.

I hate this idea. I would much rather play them the day after.
ETA: I didn't see that this was a night game. I hate it slightly less if it's a night game.

I like it....LSU plays in primetime when the whole country is sitting around watching tv...plus I don't do anything on Thanksgiving night anyway, except usually watch the Texas/ TaM game

The only reason the Hogs' game on Fridays has been a full house is that it has been for the SEC West for the past few yrs. Prior to that, with the student body off campus, duck hunting season, Black Friday, TS was never full & the atmosphere was definitely different. It may well be a great event for the Aggies, with its traditional game against UT, but don't try & force it on LSU as a great tradition. Everything that you describe as great fun for you means nothing to LSU fans. Thanksgiving is a family holiday here, with grandparents,grandkids,sons/daughters eating all day at home. This is another reason I detest the Aggies, they think their traditions are the greatest thing since gravey.

I am sure that all the LSU fans from Dallas, Houston, S.port, all of north La. all those towns not within a 2 hr drive will love losing their family traditions. And those cities do provide a lot of fans. Tiger Stadium mite not be half full, but it sure as hell won't be rocking or overflowing.
