Miles needs this win badly. Five straight losses to Saban? He'd be essentially Cholly Mac to Saban's Bear Bryant ... the affable "good" coach who can't beat a great one.

And LSU went through 7 head coaches to get to saban and a lot of bad seasons. Be careful what you wish for.

While I agree that it's mostly idiots spewing idiocy, there have been plenty of times where Miles makes ya scratch your head.

So does saban, I mean they switched starters at qb and lost because of it. Saban has had his own qb issues, at LSU and at Bama. Also in the ole Miss game they had a substitution penalty after a time out. Bad clock management. Even great coaches make bad decisions.

It's a pretty fair comparison, IMO.

No. It's a reach to attempt to give Miles more credit than he is due.

Like I said, I'm not going to argue this all day.

There are many flaws in that comparison. And really, it is much more nuanced than just looking at win-loss records.

Ultimately, the level of success that LSU achieved with Saban is simply not comparable to what Miles achieved with OSU.

TCU has a better record.

In your first post in the thread you said "winning record".

And the level of success that LSU achieved prior to Saban is simply not comparable to what OSU achieved prior to Miles. DiNardo won the division twice whereas OSU had a ceiling of 5 win seasons.

Yes, as in best record for wins. I never said anything bout winning %. Therefor, LSU is better than TCU in wins. Not to mention how poor the TCU schedule was when getting those fewer wins than LSU.

My bad, you are right about the '04 record. Maybe I was counting the Oregon State game as a loss. Lol

Still, Les improved that record

I agree. Another reason why it's not a good comparison.

No. Don't be weaselly, Lonnie.

Record includes wins and losses.

And you first posted the win-loss record since 2005 to make your statement about it being the best, which was wrong.

Shoot me! I didn't think about the ducks playing this weekend since we were off.

So, we have this second best record in wins for the past 10+ yrs. Dont be such a nit picker, Daze.

I'm not nitpicking. I'm just being accurate.

TCU also has a better record.

And this is the first time I have ever heard/seen someone say, "best record in wins". Record includes wins and losses. If you want to talk about only wins, then you should say, "most wins". But that's not what you were talking about at first. You were talking about win-loss records. That was obvious. Stop trying to twist.

If you were only concerned bout "being accurate", then you wouldn't have included Bama and OSU in a discussion bout the most wins since 05...would you.

I'm not nitpicking

You are and since you continue to do so, I will nit pick you as well. I said power 5 conference. TCU didn't become a member of a Power 5 conference till 2011. They were in the Mt. West. Hardly a power 5 conference. So, they don't even qualify to be a part of the discussion.

Evidently you have a problem admitting when you're wrong. That's a character flaw we've discussed before.

If this is supposed to be a question, then my answer is yes. Those wins did happen, on the field. The efforts of the players, coaches, and everyone else involved is worth acknowledging, even if the games/wins were officially vacated.

Yes, I know that, which excludes Boise St. (more wins and a better winning percentage).

You didn't specify this qualifier, though, and TCU is in a Power 5 conference now, and they have a better record since 2005.

TCU is a great football program, and they do deserve to be part of the discussion.

Do say. Tell us which LSU coach has produced a better winning percentage, more SEC titles, more nationally ranked teams, more ten win teams, more back to back ten win seasons, more top five teams, and more teams that played in a NCG at LSU?

I will give you a clue, it sure in the hell isn't Saban.

Yes, I know that,

Then, you knew they didn't belong in a discussion of "best winning record in Power 5 conferences football over the last 10+ yrs" since they were not even in a power 5 conference till 2011.

But I have a " a character flaw"??? I'm not the one who has thrown out 3 teams to make your flawed case even thought you know they clearly don't meet the "best winning record in Power 5 conferences football over the last 10+ yrs".

Now you want to add wins we all know to have been "vacated"??? Come on...you are better than that....hopefully.

Enough of this, I have to paint my face and get in my game day mode.
