True. Saban > Miles and there is nothing wrong with that. Anyone without purple and gold glasses can see that

"boring" ground and pound, low-scoring offense.

I've said this from the beginning. the ball control type offense that we run is perfect. quick strike offenses are built only to out score in a shootout. Our offense is built to grind opposing defenses into a fine particulate that can be trodden over repeatedly and to give no opposition.

we control the ball and don't turn it over and that "quick strike" offense isn't on the field enough to overwhelm you with points.

I've always liked our "Old School" style of play. The spread and speed formations are just a fad, and have a low ceiling, particularly in the SEC (see Ole Miss).

Agreed. But to say Les' success at LSU only has to do with longevity is objectively false. His winning percentage at LSU is better than Saban's was.

I love me some CLM.
Win, lose or draw I won't give up on this team.
They are a part of my life.
I couldn't be be prouder to be a LSU fan right now.

he got handed the keys to a mansion. He does done a great job at the upkeep. Saban was handed a flip house with potential and turned it into that mansion. I dont believe Miles could have done that

Saban averaged just north of 3 losses / year while at LSU. ATM, Miles is averaging just above 2.5 losses / year. You need to get it through your head that Saban is a better coach now than he was in 2003 and he has advantages at Alabama that LSU simply can't grant him.

OK. Do whatever you have to do to keep Saban's limp dick hard, man. The numbers don't lie.

if you think Saban was handed the same team that Les was handed, you are even dumber than you sound on a normal basis

He certainly wasn't but to act like Saban was handed a team full of scrubs is equally stupid. DiNardo left a ton of talent behind.

They're both highly successful coaches. At this point Saban is better. But at LSU, Les has experienced more success and over a longer period of time. This can't be denied.

check out the numbers before saban got here, and then see what he did. I know he is the enemy now and I hate his guts but LSU would not be where we are today without him.

Vindicated or vilified? If it's 5 in a row, then the grief will continue.

I agree. All I ever said is that Les is our most successful coach ever and it's not just because he's been here a while. You keep bringing up Saban. He's gone. Get over it.

Do you seriously pine for a throw it all over the place horizontal type offense ala Tx Tech? You frickers need to switch to european league basketball.

No, Saban was handed a mansion and turned it into a plantation. Miles was handed said plantation with dry rot and asbestos. Fact is that the team Miles inherited was loaded, but Saban just completely gave up on building a roster when he had the Miami job in hand and we had a pitiful recruiting class to show for it... the OL recruiting was particularly horrendous.

To boot, the gem of that 2005 class and #1 player in the country was booted off the team prior to being anything other than Matt Flynn's backup.

3-8, 4-7, the LSU team record the two seasons before saban got here

13-1, 9-3 the team Les inherited. Just a tad bit of difference. If Saban had stayed at LSU, he would have more wins than Les.

Hell yes especially after the national championship game plan of run, run, run it down the throat of Alabama..

Considering that the game was 9-0 at half the conservative game plan did not bother me as much as the inept play of Jordan Jefferson. He's to blame more than anyone on that loss, not only could he not execute, but he made the most bonehead decisions I have ever seen in a national championship game by a QB. When Bama went up 12-0, it was too late to win the game.

miles has earned a lot of the grief that he's gotten. doesn't mean he hasn't improved as a coach and fans can't change their minds on him. most people get better at their jobs after 10 years. being able to change ones opinion is a sign of intelligence and the ability to evolve. there's a long list of things that any coach in the country would have drawn criticism for, most notably clock management, co dc's, and nc gameplan. i'm happy to let the past be past, but its silly to think that he didnt desrve grief for some of those things.
