That's a lot of weight either way. BAck in high school in the 70's we use to have to do 3 lifts (primarily) for football: 3x5 of power cleans, squats, and bench press. To this day I still do power cleans in my workouts. Rarely see anyone else in the gym doing power cleans or cleans of any sort these days

Strong young man, no doubt!

But two words: Eric Andolsek

Big E cleaned 415+......this is Moffitt-era records.

Eric Andolsek power cleaned 415 in 1987. Maybe they don't recognize the past but it happened. Sorry Lewis.

Is it just me or did a couple of folks almost get their feet crushed celebrating a little too early. Neal dropped the bar down with a few guys standing right on top of him celebrating.

If you're a high school recruit and want to impress a college coach, show him a heavy clean. Direct relationship to explosiveness.

I've never been to a gym, do they have .5 lb weights?
Did he first try it with 392 lbs, failed, and took one pound off?

What's the difference between 391 lbs and 400, like I know the answer is 9 lbs, but is that impossible, he'd need a few months work to get up to 400, what?

So you are more willing to adamantly point out the perceived flaws/mistakes of others than you are to do the same to yourself? Nice character trait.

Not what happened. No one mentioned another school until you just mouthed off. Boxcar was only trying to shed light on proper terminology - always better to know than to be stupid.

Which is a shame, because they really are awesome. Some gyms are uncomfortable with people slinging that kind of weight around too.

Nah.. Olympic lifts are a weakness for me and a very technical lift. I tend to try and muscle everything up.

My front squat max is sitting around 335-345, though.

It's perfectly relevant to point out that it's not a power clean when the headline is "RECORD POWER CLEAN!"

The colored olympic plates are measured in kilograms, with the green being 10 kg, yellow 15, blue 20, and red 25. There are also smaller metal plates paired with those that measure 5 and 2.5 I believe. The kg to lbs conversion will end up with non-rounded lift weights.

because it is a huge difference, the power clean doesnt rely on performing a front squat, its more of a pull and catch.
