Our D has been decent but people keep comparing them to past D's and that's unfair. Our O is a bigger problem. Too many redzone trips in games coming away with 3 pts.

Well duh, majority of the time it is always the problem. Thats why we need a great defense. Y'all are idiots if you think Steele will coach a great defense.

If anybody deserves another year it's Steele. I agree his defense looked like crap a lot but at least let him get a few of his players in. I think the defense will improve next year. But I also thought Miles was still a great coach at the start of this year so I could be wrong.

He can bring them, but can he coach them? The answer to that is no.

Our LB play was outstanding this year and that appears to be his specialty

This thread is about a defensive end. I'm confident Coach O can get them ready.

And it appears we're targeting larger defensive ends which I like. We need to get more stout on the defensive line.

And they scored 44.

D was so bad 13

and yet still not as bad as this year.

took LSUs best position group , DBs, and they went from 3rd passing D, to 45th.

45th scoring defense at 24.0 points allowed.

t-84th in tackles for loss.

t-91st in turnovers.

115th in Opponent Red Zone Conversions.

I don't think KS is some top notch DC; however, against Ole Miss, Bama, Arky, and aTm we only gave up an average of 1 point a game more than we did in 13 with Chavis. To say that he's not going to field any excellent defenses is not fair based upon the sample size given.

The defense wasn't as bad as it looked this year IMO

Special teams put the defense in some pretty bad positions and gave up some points of their own

Take the UF game for example

Largely a function of thin D-line and playing in a new scheme

We need to generate more pressure and have fewer breakdowns in zone coverage. It's definitely something that can be fixed.

I hope we sign him up for 5 more years then. Les and Alleva please lock in Steele as DC for another 5 years. People deserve to suffer if you are this fricking retarded.

yeah no ish it can be fixed. but the question is , is Steele the guy to do it?

I fail to see why Les HAS to give him the benefit of the doubt.

Some guy named Nick Saban hired Steele to be his DC in 2007. in 2008 he demoted Steele and hired some guy named Kirby Smart. How did that work out for him??

That's the difference between us and Bama. One fricker sees it, and one fricker doesn't. It's still early though. Maybe Miles makes a change. If he doesn't, 2016 LSU will be the laughing stock of the SEC. It's make or break Miles.

Coach Chavis emphasized speed on the DL, and this season, especially, we needed big bullies and we don't have them, right now. Our defense was out on the field too long, and got man-handled.

When your DL is susceptible, it makes your LB play more difficult. Manhandling a DL means that the secondary is more vulnerable because the QB can make all his reads and hold the ball until he gets what he wants.

Steele is trying to run his scheme with mostly Chavis' players, recruited and developed for his own defensive scheme.

It should be simple, but in this group, everything is an intentional conspiracy to bring down LSU.

I think he did pretty good for his first year here and considering how thin we were on defense. Seems to be a good recruiter and a quality coach to me.

Big upgrade in both departments over what we had gotton use to under Chavez

how do you explain giving up 20+ points to the likes of auburn, syracuse, eastern michigan, and south carolina?

against a QB who was eventually benched the week after, a backup, a backup, and a backup?

I've been a semi hater for a while now but I think we really need to give the man time. We had virtually no linebackers this year.
