If you are down 0-1 away from home and your ace doesnt start game two, you are an idiot.

If PM pulled a stunt like that, this board would explode.

Roubichaux wasn't going to put a guy on the mound he didnt think could beat Sam Houston. Period.

Depends if you are trying to salvage a win, or win the tournament.

You have to pitch your #3 anyway. What scenario puts you in a better situation to get to Sunday?

Pitching your ace against the 4 seed, then your #3 against LSU/Sam Houston?

Or

Pitching your #3 against the 4 seed, then your ace against LSU/Sam Houston

I'm going with the 2nd option.

And then if he loses, he's suddenly sitting in the AD's office convincing the dude to let him keep his job.

You are looking at this from the fan's perspective.

I understand the logic of holding your ace against JSU, but the post above is dead on. If you go home 0-2 with your ace not throwing a single pitch...that's just foolish. He should have thrown him last night to stay in the winners bracket.

You have to get the win before you can think of winning the regional.

Its win or go home.

I dont think its even a close call to make.

It may be gutty to save your ace when you are 0-1, but I dont think a coach is serving his team well by such a gamble.

What gives them the better chance to win the regional, throwing him against Jax st, or holding him for LSU/SHS?

That is the only correct answer, coaches shouldn't worry about looking foolish

The people who are saying he should continue the strategy and save their ace for LSU don't really believe that is sound strategy. They are just trying to illustrate absurdity by being absurd. It's absurd for a 2 seed to act like they are a 1 seed at home to begin with.

Best chance to win the regional goes out the window when you go 0-1.

It becomes best chance to win the next game and continue in the regional.

It's called playing the odds

If you treat going 0-2 and 1-2 the same, in terms as failure and not winning the tournament, then you start your ACE on Sunday

Disagree

If the positives of throwing your ace tomorrow outweigh your negatives of sitting him today in terms of ODDS of winning everything, you sit him today

The odds are 100% if ULL doesnt win their next game they will not win the regional.

You play to win the regional. At the end of the day, beating jackson state means nothing if you get stomped on day 3.

So, when you lose a game in a regional, you change your goals from winning the regional to winning the next game? Why? Just scared of the backlash you will receive from the fanbase?

Your goal of winning the regional kind of becomes wasted if you dont win the next game.

"Hey coach, how did not pitching your ace in the regional work out for you and him?"

I'm glad the're going to waste him today while they score about 14 runs.

"Hey coach, did throwing a complete game shutout with your ace against JSU make up for giving up 10 runs on Sunday?"

You supply horrible logic
