Just to clear up something re: Cajuns' pitching rotation

Ryan Wilson is not a scrub. He started half of our Friday night games going into last night. He went into the game with a sub 3.5 ERA and was on the mound the last time we run ruled South Alabama. He has experience pitching in big games and has shown that he is a tough, gritty pitcher.
It was absolutely the right move to throw him last night. He actually pitched a good game. I think the real problem was that Tony pulled him too early. For some reason, Robe has a ton of faith in Matt Hicks. Hicks started the season guns blazin' but has been terrible the second half of the year. We all knew what would happen when Hicks went in.
Mayer should have been the first guy out of the pen. That was the real pitching disaster from Friday's guy.
The fact of the matter is, we ran into a guy who has very good stuff who pitched probably his best game of the year. If Dex Kjerstad's shot goes another 3 feet, we tie the game up in the 9th. That's baseball, though.
We were always underdogs to get out of this regional, with absolutely zero regional experience going to the best team in the country's place. Now we have to try to pick ourselves up and pull a small miracle from the loser's bracket.
Good luck LSU, hopefully we get to play y'all one more time.
tl;dr - The real bad pitching decision was Hicks, not Wilson.

I'm just as surprised as you are. Tony said he'll probably start Austin against Jax St which I think is an awful idea, but whatever. Coming into this weekend, I thought everything was lagniappe. If we don't get hurt by the draft, next year will be our best team since 2007.

Agreed. But you were favorites against SHSU. And IMO, the only chance you had to get out of the regional was to do it in the winner's bracket. I can see his reasoning. But I think you guys didn't have the luxury of gambling and holding your ace out until the 2nd game. Should have gone all in to stay in the winner's bracket.
Now, you gotta waste your ace starting against a 4 seed.

You should google the word perspective, you'll learn something new.
Also, it's not like LSU looked that hot yesterday. Y'all may have trouble with SHSU

No. We're pitching our ace.

It's not like anyone who matters other than Eades looked bad. And most already knew he may struggle in the heat. LSU looked fine.

Not sure Austin would've beaten SH anyway so it's moot.

I see what you're saying but the ONLY chance we had to win this thing was Austin going against Nola. Ryan Wilson was our ace for most of the season. The pitching wasn't even really an issue 99% of our games this year, if we hold the other team to 4 runs, we win by 5. We could have played to win game 1 and Austin probably would have won it, but we were giving it a shot to win the whole thing.
Now we'll need a small miracle because after Austin it gets very bleak, however no Glenn is a small blessing if it does come down to it. He raped us.

Yall can beat them with someone else, but why risk it? They're swinging the bat well, so you don't want to throw up a meat ball, high ERA guy. Let Robe go out and take care of business and hope your #3 can beat SHSUs #3 tomorrow.

He's got no choice.
You can't risk going 2 and que without your ace seeing the hill.
