It's the way they are playing bad. Poor fundamentals don't just go away.

If lsu can beat wake forrest at home then vandy on the road, the excitement will be back and this team has a shot at beating kentucky if the pmac is rocking.

He met expectations last year. Goal was to make tournament. How they lost the game has soured perception of last season.

With all the freshmen it's going to take some time, there will be growing pains.

These kids are used to being all stars on their old teams, where they were the go to guys. That has now changed, Simmons is the only one who is still in that role.

Be patient, JJ will bring these kids together and we will be a force to be reckoned with later in the season.

I wish I could sit through a week of practice. It's so tough to look from the outside and speculate why there is no offensive identity/complexity and little defensive grit. Maybe JJ is driving the fundamentals and just has a bunch of Players who don't get it. Then I'd cut him some slack.

Just so odd

This isn't football you don't have several years. The guy is a lousy coach. Basketball is completely different because his best player who will probably be the number one overall pick. LSU's basketball team is the most I fundamentally sound teams I think I've ever seen. The offense is just streetball, no fundamentals on defense, they don't move their feet, they reach.

You are what your record says you are. Imagine what Simmons would be doing at Duke or UNC hell Alabama for that matter

Nope. He is a Dale Brown disciple. It is amazing that people can't see how bad of in game strategy coaches they both are. Both excellent recruiters, excellent motivators and personable men. But, when put up against teams with equal talent they typically lose. It really isn't debatable. My dream is for LSU to win a NC in hoops. We have the best player under 21 years old on the planet and it won't happen.

Anyone thinking he should or will be fired is a moron though

He will likely have more talent this year than he will ever have again and probably not make the tournament. He doesn't make the tournament, please explain to me why he should be retained.

He had two first round picks, barely made the tournament, and once in the tournament blew a ridiculous lead.....you have some low expectations.

Simmons is the most talented he'll ever have, whether it's his most talented team is a complete unknown.

Because it would be his first year not improving the program. It could get him on the hotseat going into next year but thinking he should be fired is foolish.

He outcoached godfried at nc state in the tourney game. We were waxing their ARSE all game. But then the collapse happened. Its funny how no one seems to remember that and how the players get no blame either.

Mickey didn't go in the 1st round and most of this board insulted him and said he should get his passport ready when declared.

if this team doesn't make the NCAA tourney, I'd have to agree with people concerning JJ's coaching ability.

Johnny Jones coaches the best "stand around" offense I have ever seen in my life. Ball is dribbled down, no cuts, no movement, just lots of standing and watching the basketball.

I'll hold you to this and hope you're right.

CJJ has improved the team every year he's been here - but this year looks bleak.

80% of the morons on here think Dale Brown sucked and the 89-90 team was the most talented team in CBB history, so they mean nothing.

But 5-4, the way we've been playing against really subpar competition? I dunno. I've wavered.

I could debate a lot of this.

The shite Dale Brown takes from ignorant LSU fans is simply amazing to me. Bob Knight got to control refs, throw fricking chairs onto the court and choke players and some dickwads love him.

I actually think they are very different in manner and style, and I definitely don't think motivation is a strength for CJJ, in fact I think it's maybe his weakest trait of them all.

I do not understand the hate for Dale Brown, he got LSU to 2 final fours and the team was in the tournament pretty much every year under Brown. Brown was a fantastic motivator and his in game coaching is very underrated.

I do not understand why JJ can not get this team to play defense or rebound with any regularity. These are basic things that any talented team would be able to do without thinking.
