I can remember way back when he did a High School Football Playoff Game he was like 14 years old. I think one of the schools playing was South Lafourche and cannot remember the other one. The game I remember was in South Lafourche and it was close at the end and I do not remember if Bobby Hebert was playing for South Lafourche and who won but he got all excited and caught up in the game and it was really great for a guy 14 years old.

LSU needs to find someone with a John Ferguson type of strong voice that draws you in. Hawthorne did not have that voice and neither does Jim Henderson. They just describe what they are watching without a strong voice.

I worked with Tim at CBS. He's extremely knowledgeable about all things LSU and is a gifted interviewer. The obstacles that I see are that he is far too opinionated and confrontational to thrive in a university setting. His interview style would create some awkward moments for certain members of the coaching staffs at LSU and yes, as other posters have mentioned, he does possess a massive ego. However, he loves Louisiana and he's at an age where returning home may be an attractive option.

This would be a weird step back for him, regardless of his ties to the state.

He's also at that age he doesn't need a challenge necessarily and can do what he wants.

If he doesn't say "second sacker" and call our baseball stadium "Ellick Box," I'm good.

Meh. It's not his ego that bothers me it's the morning DJ disproportionate laughter that bothers me.

that's where it all began for him, a KROK jock in Shreveport in the early '70's

Okay. That makes sense then. It's just weird hearing that kind of laughter on a sports show.

he really overdoes it, he reminds me of Musberger at the height of his career back in the '80's, and others like him, they think the production is all about them, not the game on the field/court, and that the audiences tune in to see/hear them, if there weren't such an audio time lag I would watch LSU on tv and listen on the computer, Brando is one hell of an emcee but I don't see him as good fit for this job, for either side

Let's make a list of who the next Voice will NOT be….

Tim Brando
Gordy Rush
Jordy Hultberg
Lyn Rollins
Charles Hannagriff
Victor Howell
Pretty much any ESPN personality ever listed…they make WAY too much money.
Matt Moscona
Jimmy Ott
Jon Fine

You want a voice that strictly calls the action with emotion when necessary. Brando would take it to a whole other level. He would swallow the color guy up. Opinions is his business on radio, and he would carry that over, believe me. I don't think he would take this job. Like the previous guy said, I can't see him calling Tuesday night LSU-Alcorn St. baseball games.

Why does the hire have to have LSU ties? Hawthorne loves LSU and nobody likes him. There are enough professionals out there that could fill the role.
