Harris has a rocket for an arm. Takes a little more than that to play the position well.

Brains isn't enough, but without intelligence enough to learn the playbook, understand defenses, know going into a game what the best matchups are, and make good decisions quickly, all the physical skills in the world aren't going to get it done. In the last 20 years, LSU has only had one QB whose pure physical skills overcame a lack of intelligence. After Jamarcus, there isn't another even close.

If LSU wants to continue to be an NFL factory, and I think we do, then Pro Style QB is definitely the right call

I don't care if they are recruited as dual threat or pro-style. I would just love to see someone at QB that can actually compete.

If we go DT we need to go to a spread offense and stay in it. Having a DT quarterback in a pro style offense hasn't worked and probably won't ever work.

Which LSU QB had the most success passing vs Bama since Saban has been there?

Brennan is going to shut up so many idiots in a couple of years...he has the most upside of any Qb from this area as I have seen in many years....he has it!.

That might be true. But let's wait till he gets to college. The lack of HS completion that he's faced is an issue. Scott is 3rd or 4th all time in total yards in Louisiana 5A. He's being playing against SEC caliber opponents throughout his HS career. NOT saying you're wrong, but these guys have a lot of questions to answer once they get here.

You know Dak Prescott has the Cowboys at 7-1, right? Dual threat guys can play on Sundays, if they can throw.

Once established, your job would be to commit to only that style of QB recruit.

WRONG! WRONG! WRONG! You recruit the most talented QB you can get (just like any other position). If he has a great arm, great. If he can run like a mofo, great also. If he can do both greatly, greater still. Great talent beats averageness. You dont' turn down a Peyton Manning because he isn't a great runner and you don't turn down a Cam Newton because he isn't the greatest passer.

It would be stupid to put artificial limitations on your recruiting due to some idiotic preconceived ideas of what TYPE of qb you are looking for.

Let's get a decent prostyle QB and some blockers and route runners and we can find out.

Spread doesn't mean pass heavy. Bama, Ohio St., Clemson, Auburn all run spread schemes based on power run and all recruit the same O-Lineman LSU does

This is my point, they are winning on the O-line and we are not and have not for a few years. They clearly are not recruiting the same type lineman we are. If not then we just can't coach them.

You get the best that fits YOUR SCHEME. You don't go out and get a DT kid and then make him take 5-7 step drops and sit in the pocket and survey the field. You don't take a pro-style kid and put him in the gun with RPOs, zone reads, etc.

we're all recruiting the same type linemen, big fast and strong being the best, if you can get them, but sometimes you have to settle for what you can get.

example Boutte and Teahuma: big and strong, not fast.
Clapp and Brumfield: not quite as big and strong,, but a little faster

Cam Robinson: Big and extra strong and still moves well.

So out of those which one would you take whether you run a pro style or a spread?
the correct answer is Cam Robinson.
Why is it the correct answer? because he is the best o-lineman out of all those. Did LSU recruit Cam Robinson? the answer is yes

Did every other team in the country want Cam Robinson whether they run spread or pro style?
Yes
Did he chose to go to all those other schools or did he chose to go to Bama? answer is Bama.

you get the best QB you can get. period. You recruit a Myles Brennon whether you run a pro style or a spread because he is a good QB

You also recruit a Narcisse because he is also a good QB.

You take the best players you can get. Period. That's what LSU does. That's what Alabama does. That's what all the big schools do.

To be a DUAL threat QB you have to be able to throw the ball AND run the ball. LSU hasn't had one of those lately.
