I always thought Houston was a hub airport like Atlanta
It is not. It is a larger airport than New Orleans, but it is not like Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, or Los Angeles.

What about Nashville?
I think you can rule out Miami, Jax and Tampa... ACC has had no luck there either.

Sorry, y'all, but ATL is within 4 hours of for Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, South Carolina, Vanderbilt and Tennessee. As long as the SEC office is calling this, it will be in ATL. New Orleans would be next with LSU, Miss St, Ole Miss and possibly A&M. Arkansas, Kentucky and Florida have to go >5 hrs either way. No SECG in Texas. Besides, at the rate that it's going, the PAC 16 could end up there.

Ironic. Thats what I said about Dallas for years now.

I think the first requirement for any SEC CG is that the game has to be played in a Dome with the lid closed. If Jerry was smart he would be brokering OSU, OU and Baylor to the SEC so he could get the SEC CG every other year.

That Jerry Jones building would be an awesome place to place the SEC championship game every year!!!

bullshite. Houston IC is huge and a continental/united hub.

The SECCG shouldn't be held in Atlanta every year. I'd love to see JerryWorld added to the rotation. Reliant Stadium wouldn't be a bad choice, either.
Hell, what about the Super Dome?
This all makes sense...I think a rotation would be great...why should Atlanta get all the benefits??

Houston is a hub for Continental Airlines. It's not on the scale of DFW (American), ATL (Delta) or Chicago (United) but it is a hub.

Houston airport is a major Contenital airlines hub and has lots of direct flights.
A rotation between Atlanta and Houston would be cool

IMO Atlanta sucks for gameday atmosphere. I would much rather it be in NO, Dallas, or Nashville.
I don't know much about reliant stadium and the surrounding area so I don't have a comment.

As a frequent flyer I can tell you Houston (IAH) is huge with five terminals. They also have Hobby airport. How many cities have two major airports? Houston, Dallas, Chicago, LA ad New York - not Atlanta. Games in Dallas would be great.

Houston and New Orleans are second tier Airports, so it is difficult for many people to get direct flights. Dallas and Atlanta do not have this problem.
I guess that's why we never get the superbowlin New Orleans ... Oh wait

Dude, George Bush Intercontinental is FAR from a second tier airport. You may be thinking of Hobby which is the SECOND big airport in Houston. It serves the southern part of the city.

bogus, Houston Hobby is regional but BushIA is the big daddy. Louis armstrong is not big but has direct flights to most destination. Bush international airport is like freaking city within a city.

I'd love for it to be in NOLA, but it won't happen. That would mean the winner of the SECCG would likely be returning to NOLA 4 weeks later for the Sugar Bowl. The SEC won't want to risk dropping attendance.
It's not moving from Atlanta unless people quit going, and that won't be happening anytime soon.

There is a contract to keep the SECCG in Atlanta through 2017. I wouldn't be surprised if that is renewed. There are "season ticket holders" for the SECCG. The powers that be would have to reconfigure people's tickets if the venue were changed.
Contracts and money rule the world
