Mett didnt play because he couldnt run the short side option to perfection like JJ did...

Last season we had a brutal schedule and he was a young QB in his third system in 3 years playing behind two senior QBs, he wasnt ready to face the pressure that he would be under to be the savior at QB for a National title contending team. Last time Les had to play a guy that wasnt ready, it was Lee and Jefferson in 08 and it messed him up permantly and caused this whole mess

Do you really have to ask? Lee was playing better than JJ and he still wouldn't play him, so why would CLM start Mett?

Players do get better from 1 year to the next. VY was MUCH better in 2005 than he was in 2004.
QB was not an issue last except the last game.

"I dont even" see the irony when I question the quality of another members posts considering that I've put up nearly 11,000 posts in less than 10 months? Pot meet kettle

What's everyone saying? He is better than the other two? Then hell yes, he is as good as everyone is saying.

I suspect there are posters here here wondered, as I did, why Mett didn't get more reps in games where we were comfortably ahead.
JL and JJ stayed in for longer than they should've (purely from a potential injury standpoint) in several games. And of the snaps Mett got, most weren't quality snaps, b/c he was instructed to run dives and invoke the victory formation.
We did a poor job of preparing him for last year and this year, IMO.

By reason, you mean something you agree with. There are valid alternatives to your train of thought here. The "inexperience" factor for a guy several years out of high school is overstated. There are few games LSU played last year that Mettenberger would have been challenged. He isn't being touted as all world, just better than the two we had.

Jesus **cking Christ. LSU went 13-0, beating everyone but the eventual national champion by double digit margins, and beat those guys in their own stadium. And yes, lost in the national championship game. But hell, that's not enough. Only winning it all keeps it from being a disgustingly underachieving season?? You people are truly idiots and don't deserve the world class coach, team and institution you have.

Mett is not even in the top ten of any pundit's picks for top QBs.
so...
Mett is unlikely to be perceived as all world.
He's not. Not now. Maybe some day.
Not now. Your premise is fallacious.

Because he had a 5th year senior and a 4th year senior in front of him.
Like this hasn't been discussed before.

fwiw Joe Montana didn't start at Notre Dame until the 3rd or 4th game his RS-JR year...
