re: How much will Trey Quinn & Lanard Fournette contibute to the team this season?

Quinn is a very good wr, who runs great routes, has good speed, and somehow got open a lot last year. He was a very good HS player, in a system set up for him to shine. He had Jared Foster throwing to him, and other great talent on that Barbe team so opponents could not focus solely on him. However, TQ started at WR last year for LSU as a true freshman. There's a reason why, in the past, players at LSU sat and watched their true freshman year. LSU had experienced, more mature players who were just better than the freshmen. With the junior NFL draft departures of so many players since 2012, opportunities have opened up that door for great fundamentally sound players like Quinn. Unfortunately, we saw that when an 18 year old is playing in a huge game (such as vs Bama) in front of 102,000, oftentimes the maturity is not there to allow them to perform at the same high level as vs NM State or ULM. And then when the young players drop a catchable and important pass, it affects the game. For example, the pass to a very inexperienced FB vs Bama on the first OT play for LSU. He was just not ready for that kind of pressure, and the pressure was so big after his dropped pass that he disappeared from the LSU team and the program altogether. Quinn had two drops vs Bama that could have altered the outcome, but he's still on the team, competing against great young talent, and is apparently performing well in that respect. So he is still out there, competing, making LSU a stronger team. He may get passed up by Chark or Diarse or some young star, but the result will be that LSU will be putting the best guys on the field vs a very tough SEC schedule this year. Which is how it should be. So let's not jump to throw a young player overboard if he makes a mistake or two, let's watch to see how he handles that adversity and responds this year. Because he just may be the difference vs Bama this year, or it may be a guy he pushed to make better, like Chark or Diarse, who is the difference maker and helps us win a big game.

Seriously why are you brining Amari into this conversation. His drops didn't hurt the team. He scored a TD and had a number of receptions while being keyed upon the whole game. U would do better just comparing him to Jarvis and Odell

You make a great point with A Cooper. He may have had a few drops, but he also seemed to get a lot more chances, made a lot of catches, and one or two spectacular plays a game. And Odell and Jarvis dropped a few early, but put in the time and got reps behind them to solve that. They turned out to be pretty good, so I'm not that worried about our young receivers now.
