this mizzou blogger made a decent profile on marshall during their search last year. im all for casting the net and trying to find a pool of candidates but i think on the surface he's about as much a 'home-run' hire as you could make right now. i do think he'd listen to an offer.

The numbers don't lie. We had a chance to recover the season with the last four games against weaker teams, supposedly. We laid a 1-3 rotten egg.

If we knew the day we hired TJ that we'd be staring at three straight years of staying home in March (in year four), would we have hired him? I doubt it.

It's time to move on, admit mistakes, and give TJ a hell of a severance package. No reason to be mad at TJ, I'd have taken the job, too.

If we can't afford the buyout, then cut the pay of the other glorified PE teachers over there. With the economy as it is, they should all take a pay cut, but I digress.

Regarding Alleva, I'd bet the fans would be more forgiving for pulling the trigger now, than suffering through another disappointing season.

We're a sleeping giant with the right person. No doubt in my mind.

I really dont think I agree with the statement that Alleva want realease him because Alleva hired him.; Come on even Joe Dean knew he made a mistake with Hallman and let him go as well as he did with Dinardo. 'Any good boss can realize that they have made a mistake in hiring someone and then realizes that for whatever reason the hiree just isnt working out and you cut bait. Buy out issues and money could be another reason but I would think that Alleva is not such a rear end to let a bad hire sink him. Just my opinion.

I got news for you. Dean wanted to keep Dinardo. It was Emmert's decision to can Gerry. Dean was a cheap motherfricker who held LSU back.

I have argued and argued all season for everyone to keep a cool head, let the season play out and see where we stand at that time. I have said since the end of last season that I thought Trent needed to go 8-8 in the SEC this season, at minimum, to keep his job.

The regular season is over and his SEC record is 7-9, including an 0-3 record to close out the season.

I can now support the firing of Trent Johnson.

Some serious homework has to be done with the next coaching hire.

Alleva did a good job on the hire last time IMO. TJ was considered to be about as good as a program like LSU could do.

I thought we were turning the corner but these last 3 have been terrible. I'm in on the Gregg Marshall campaign.

You must not read my posts. I have always been pro patience, not pro TJ.

I think he deserved this season -- a full season. He got it and failed.

Im not saying I supported Dean and I truly think he was one of the worst ADs we ever had and I sit corrected and you are probably right in that it was Emmert getting rid of Dinardo and not Dean and I can accept that as it was also Emmert who brought Saban in and Dean very little to do with it except for his son being friend with sean Tuohy who put him on to Jimmy Sexton and probably Saban's interest. The point that I was trying to make that someone said earlier that Alleva woulnt pull the trigger because he hired TJ, I was just saying that even Dean knew when to cut bait with Hallman and as you stated Emmert pulled the trigger on Dinardo.

I am the same way Bubba. I have defended Trent just because I think he deserved time and a fair shake. LSU basketball wasn't a coach and single recruting class away from being NCAA level. We are not a sleeping giant in basketball. I think we can be a top level program if we wanted to be, but we really don't. TJ cannot bring in top recruits and recruit with the big boys with an empty arena. LSU basketball is going to be a slow building process...

That being said...I can no longer defend TJ. If he was given an extra year, I wouldn't be angry. But I can no longer defend keeping him either.

Nope, not with the current resouces and money we put toward basketball. Can we be an elite program? Yes, but not at this same level. The Admin will have to dump more resources for us to be. Can we be elite? Yes. Are we a current sleeping giant? No.
