Yeah I think so too. Trent can justifiably say the team is heading in the right direction in the grand scheme of things. 17-14, 7-9 sucks but it's better than 11-20. This late season collapse after a nice stretch is what everyone is worried about. It would be a lot nicer if we ended the year hot.

it is not about what Trent says or thinks- Aleva made a bad hire and now we have 3 mil on the hook in a non football sport. TJ gets another year

i just knew from the coastal carolina game(pretty sure it was the 2nd gm of the yr) that we were gonna have to judge this team game by game. got annihilated on the glass by a bunch of dwarfs.

then you have games like marquette but even then, spotted them a 13-0 lead.

i just go back to guys like bass and storm who still can't consistently catch the fricking bacll with two hands. bass was looking like a serviceable player at last but has been awful the last 5 games or so.

guys falling down, running into one another, horrible fundamentals (trent's mantra pass/catch w/ both hands, defend and rebound) we're pretty much below average at all that.

horrible starts to 2nd half, awful at both ends coming out of timeouts. just no improvement or development.

i can just see this program continue to get styled on by the tennessee's and alabama's,... teams we should be battling with for a top 4 finish in this league. they will continue to have their way if trent continues to recruit kids who just play with no emotion. malcolm white is probably our most emotional guy and the dude just got son'd by fricking dirtydiddyaubie at the end of that game. arkansas, you would think, is on the way up w/ anderson. even fricking auburn is trending up. barbee would probably have this group on the bubble.

just no faith in trent anymore. aboslutely none.

I don't think I've ever laughed harder at something on this site.

Zealot laughed in my face when I said 2-3 finish. I don't care about gloating but even you said 4-1 was way more likely. How did y'all not see this possibility coming?

Fire Trent now! What more do we need to see. He can't recruit or coach! We need a coach that can bring some excitement back to Baton Rouge and LSU basketball. He can't get the best in state, how he is going to get the best out of state?

I've never thought we were good, FWIW.

Although, I definitely thought a 4-1 finish was possible.

It was possible no doubt. I got laughed at for predicting 2-3 based on how bad we play on the road. Even got called a baseball optimist but a basketball pessimist. Will those people retract? Doubtful.

And fyi I take no joy in being correct.

People were all over me when I said I didn't think we'd make the tournament even if we did win out and lose to Kentucky in the semifinals.

Guess we won't find out.

I thought 4-1 was pretty likely. It looked good until they shat the bed in the 2nd half against Tennessee.

I definitely think we would have made it. Especially with how much we were getting talked about before the Ole Miss game. Not much point in debating that, though.

Our schedule sucked. We had one good win all year.

I don't think we would have deserved it.

This! It won't do us any good to get rid of Trent if we don't get someone better. I know nothing about which coaches we have a realistic chance of getting or what Trent did wrong that they will do right. I would think recruiting is the highest priority and we need someone from the south who can recruit Louisiana and the surrounding states. They do not have to be a great X's and O's guy as long as they hire assistants that can do that and just don't hire their old friends and good buddy's. They also need to have an outgoing personality and be willing to promote basketball like Dale did. I have changed my mind on this and now feel that the program has sunk so low that we need that kind of rah, rah guy now.
