Last year at this time I thought that the Les Miles era had began its course to the final days. However, Les Made a couple outstanding hires on the defensive side of the ball and I am very proud of the way our defensive is playing, esp compared to last year.
Now Miles is facing the same issues on the offensive side of the ball and he will be forced to make a decision that will affect his time with LSU.
Having the talent that we do on the offensive side of the ball and having an offense that ranks 109 is just unacceptable. If he decides to stick with Crowton after this season, he will be taking a huge gamble, not only with our offensive production but also with recruiting. Next year louisiana is full of MUST GET talent. This amount of talent doesnt come around often and you have to take full advantage of it.
Now I believe LSU's defense will be really good next year with the coaches we have but it will be lacking in DT depth (selling point for Hunter and Johnson)
Now if Miles can go out and hit another homerun on the offensive side of the ball this offseason, like he did with the defense, it will ease the minds of those skilled players wanting to come to LSU. With last years class, this years potential class and what next year could bring, Les would only need to make a good offensive hire to complete this package and have us ready for 2012 NC in New Orleans again.

Now I am not a big fan of Les's coaching abilities but I like his recruiting. If he can do to our offense what he did to our defense (in hirings) then I think Les is earning his money at LSU.

I agree, but Crowton isn't an imbecile. How in the hell did he get so bad so fast (with his playcalling?) I realize he is limited with a young QB and a young "O" but damn.

Is he overanalyzing things? Some have said just line up and go at 'em and I'm beginning to think it's true. You know what defenses are going to do: load the box and disrespect the long pass b/c we don't throw it.

One bad assuption. A good bit of our offensive talent is no longer on the team. Check the attrition of the 05,06 and 07 classes. 7 OL, 1 QB gone, no QB signed in 06, no FlBk signed - 05 - 08.

We have a lack of talent at QB and OL at the senior level. This is hard to fix. This is a recruiting mistake.

I may have to crush someone's skull on this i.e. think. LSU second half Florida game. LSU going no where. Bring in R. Shepard, the Nations no. 1 running back, really. Mr. Shepard off tackle runs and side steps for long gain but gets tripped up, runs for 26 yards. Next play runs option via J. Jefferson, runs for TD, something like that! And Oh, R. Randle splits far out right WR with Mr. Tolliver to his left and Mr. Lafell to his left all go down field. Tolliver across and deep to the left and Lafell to the middle and piroutte, whatever. R. Randle deep to the right downfield, catches TD, really. Either I have no brain or LSU has no brain, I really believe LSU is saving the above for SEC West opponents starting with Auburn. H. Herbstreit said before the LSU Georgia game that LSU was the worst 4th rated team maybe ever to his TV partner and would lose 5 games this year, he went over LSU's schedule with his TV partner and actually said the above.
Step up to the plate LSU, I believe in you.

MEH. This type of talent has always been around. We just had about 11 years where the LSU coaches couldn't recruit it to LSU.
We are still just talking about a bunch of young kids along 3/5 of the line and another kid at QB. Anybody who thought this was an outright championship caliber team was smoking crack. Is it a team that could develop and be really good by the end of the year? Probably.
As for Crowton, his offenses never improve statistically year to year. He becomes easy to read. Hopefully this changes for him and us.

Yeah, LSU hasn't really tried hard against SEC East foes. Right.

You're not alone. Something needs to happen with this offense, now and not later. Elite program? LSU is fast becoming a bad joke. Notice what Dandy Don posted today...

LSU is 6-6 in their last 12 SEC games
This suggests we got problems of some kind and I don't think it's personnel, I think it's coaching.

The future of LSU football is better debated at the end of the season once we see how we develop and what our 2009 result will be. Les is a recruiting machine (better than Saban), average on the field coach, and demonstrated that he will make hard staff decisions like wiping out the entire D staff last year. Our D is in great hands and the strength of this team. Crowton is on the hot seat, and must bring the offense together to have a good year.

I think once crowton got his raise, he just wanted to make sure LSU's check cleared the bank before he was going show the world the super top secret plays he's been coming up with. Now that the check is in the bank, look for the Wizard to unleash some nasty stuff on AU next week.

crowton was a wizard just a coupla months ago. now he is a huge problem? give the guy a chance; he deserves it and has earned it. our problem is simple to understand; major attrition on the OL, and losing our groomed starting QB. i don't think either will happen again. i expect miles and co. to oversign both linemen and QB's in the future. we already have 4 schollie qb's, one committed and we're still recruiting. i believe the future is bright. as long as we keep recruiting the way we've been, we are going to be a player in the NC hunt.

Recruiting is only a part of the whole picture. Developing these high school stars to play at the level of SEC and NC contender football takes more than getting them in unis out there and saying, "Damn strong team... let 'er rip!" Those players need to develop and learn and grow in their positions.

Some coaches at LSU have been able to groom them, others haven't shown a whole lot beyond just recruiting raw talent. I would love it if Coach Miles could prove he can and does do both. Since last season and all thru this season, I'm honestly not seeing both happening. That's a worry and a disappointment.

We've had such extraordinary recruiting classes one after another, that one does not expect to see us struggle against M. State, Vandy, Washington and ULL, who have NOT had success. If we're 6-6 in our last 12 SEC games, how do you project us finishing with Ala, Ole Miss, Auburn and Arky left? Lucky if we break even ,as I see it.
We gotta problem, Houston.
We aren't in a tailspin, but we're losing altitude noticabley.

Add Arkansas to the list of teams that will skull frick us in 2009...

Long term, unsure. IMO, we are a decent QB away from being a very good team right now. If we have one of those, we have not played him yet.

Why do people honestly believe this shite? You really think they have risked losing 6 games to hide their offense. No they just are not that good offensively.

618. Then 272 and 196.

How many point did Crowton's offense score in his 1st year at BYU? How many points did Crowton's offense score the subsequent years?

Crowton is a one year wonder.

I think we'll never win another Nat'l Championship under Miles helm. I think we will severly struggle to win a SEC Championship (not sure if we will or not). I think we'll consistently go 9-3ish (which isn't bad at all). We are all just hoping for more.

I agree with this a million times over and thats the problem with Miles and his playing of seniority over talent. Guys like Dworcyk(sp) T Bob, Chris Hawkins, Rahem Alem, Charles Alexander all of these guys continue to get time over guys with more talent.
