If Harris had been able to consistently hit on short and intermediate throws, he probably wouldn't have been benched. His accuracy left a lot to be desired. He might come in next season much improved, though. I really hope so as he does have a world of talent, great arm.

Etling had the benefit of coaching at Purdue.
The Qbs that showed ability at LSU were coached by someone outside the Miles influence. JR, Flynn, Mettenberg, and Etling all learned the skills elsewhere.

You have to be kidding.

Mett had never thrown a pass in a fbs game before lsu.

This is the part of the article I found the most interesting:

quote:

One of the major puzzle pieces Tyler said he thinks is going unplayed with is freshman Lindsey Scott Jr.

In a lot of ways, Scott is a spitting image of Tyler from when he was in school. Both are Louisiana natives, Tyler from New Orleans and Scott from just north of Baton Rouge in Zachary. Both are a bit undersized; Tyler was 5-foot-10, and Scott is 5-11. And both were dual-threat high school stars who committed to LSU late in their recruiting process.

But Tyler said he sees more than himself in Scott. In Scott, Tyler said he sees qualities comparable to Clemson quarterback and two-time Heisman Trophy finalist Deshaun Watson.

“He has the qualities that only few can possess, and that’s the qualities of relentlessness, leadership, understanding, and he’s just flat out electric,” Tyler said.

“He has to get an opportunity. I’ll tell you right now: Including Danny Etling, including Brandon Harris, I think that kid has too much of an upside and that he can be really, truly be successful in the right kind of an offense to where he can be that Deshaun Watson type of cat.”

Still, Etling is LSU’s starter. And Tyler doesn’t have any problem with the way Etling played last season or the way interim offensive coordinator Steve Ensminger handled him. He just thinks there should be a bigger emphasis on competition among those players who haven’t yet received their opportunities.

I hope he is not exaggerating.

I hope that in my lifetime one of the long-term LSU players during the Miles regime publishes a book on the way things occurred, from practices to game prep, to qb snaps during practice, to team meetings were actually conducted while former CLM was the man. I think the actual facts and details of the program organization may be scary.

And (at least through 2013) I was a Miles fan.

Bulllllllshit. Etling earned his spot and took his OPPORTUNITY and did well, while brandon harris took his opportunity and DIDN'T DO shite, NOR IMPROVE!. This should be etling job to lose if you are a coach. Period.

I would be very surprised if Etling is the starting QB after the Spring and Fall camps. Very surprised.

He had the most successful tenure in lsu history. Why would the details be scary?

The rights that Tyler has to voice his opinion are the same rights people have to criticize it.

Etling was given a chance to survive and thrive because the fans put no expectations on him.

This is absolutely insane.

Etling walked out onto the field with 100,000 fans and thought "Gee, no one has any expectations for me? Then why am I here?"

What exactly did Danny Etling do during his starting time to deserve to get benched?

take those statistical blinders off. Since 2009 LSU has been winning in spite of Miles not because of. The man wasted more talent than this school has ever seen the last few years while guiding us to a .500 sec record. Your Miles homerism is sickening

Outside of some footwork tweeks, accuracy isnt something you can coach.

That's not true. You're telling me that throwing mechanics/motion can't be coached? By that logic no qb ever could improve accuracy since it can't be learned... then you get what God gave you and that's it?

quote:

Mett and Jlee got better over their careers.

Mett was a juco transfer who had already been prepped, so to speak, before he came to LSU. Lee had one decent season in his last season. Technically, yes, he improved but he went from terrible to average at best and only for one year.

quote:

They haven't been.

so you're telling me all these QBs lsu has had over the years were all just overrated? Their performance was because they weren't that good? It had nothing to do with under development by our QB coach?

Honestly, i can't believe that you truly believe that our QBs were developed properly.

quote:

You have got to be kidding. A qb that has never taken a snap in fbs football didnt need development? Also, check out the huge gap between his 2012 production and his 2013 production.

True he did have a better year in 2013 than 2012, but i think Cameron's arrival had a larger role in that since his system fit Mett well. I just meant that he wasn't fresh out of high school when he came to LSU.

quote:

Surely you dont believe that bullshite rant myth that we have been running the same offense during Miles' entire tenure.

Not the exact same, no, but you have to admit Miles had his finger in the offense a little too much. His meddling (coaching) held the offense back. Either that or he hired such piss poor QB coaches and coordinators that he set himself up for failure.

My point is no matter who the OC was there was always a miles fingerprint firmly planted on that offense.

It took a season for Mett to overcome Les's misguided philosophy and circumvent all the non-coaching available. A philosophy that's taken a many of fine QB down. A lesser man would've folded.

Lack of development alright, add to that piss poor offensive play calling by the head coach/OC...
