on this I agree 100%

For those that say to look at Mett last year, I did, and the only thing that made it work was Mett and two NFL receivers making more than their fair share of man on man incredible plays.

You can not depend on having a QB like Mett and NFL quality receivers to make a college offense work

It's not just the pass calls either. Most of our run schemes are just awful as well.

Whenever I read something like this I would I could hand the poster a piece of chalk and say, here, draw up our primary run blocking schemes and explain the halfbacks' reads. I would probably get some hilarious responses.

I honestly don't understand this fanbase. Florida is one of the worst teams in the SEC, and they essentially gift wrapped the game for us tonight. Yet, because we won, half the fanbase wants to act like our previous problems have suddenly been resolved, when, once again, we won despite displaying the exact same deficiencies.

@memphis Tiger. What position did you play? Seems this board is loaded with Miles' critics who have never played a mere four years of high school football. Due to inexperience, LSU plays conservative football to avoid turn overs which they did. Ask the Aggies,Auburn and Florida how turn overs hurt them yesterday.

Once again Memhis Tiger give us your football resume.

So if players are successful (see 2013) it's all the players. If the players struggle it's all the fault of the coaches.

Where is exactly is this dumbass coaching ? Oh no where

The object is to WIN, not look good ala TCU, who scored 58 and blew a 24 pt lead and fing lost!!.

We didn't turn the ball over therefore we win,

Play action on 3rd and 17. That's the offense in a nutshell.

I understand the limitations at quarterback; however, rather than just abandoning one facet of the offenses, how about you work on that with your QB, or recruit someone who CAN run that offense.

And that is fine against Florida, but we played with a similar game plan against team's with more talent and good coaching (MSU and Auburn) and we got blasted (though we did make a comeback when we got a little crazy at the end).

That game plan will not beat many teams left on LSU's schedule. I did like that we had Jennings throwing on the run. That was smart because it slowed their rush on D and he is good at throwing on the run. Those FB passes didn't get a lot, but they got us positive yards and easy completions when the FB can catch. Now let's try a few to the RBs.

We have no functionable QB. Have to work within that limitation.

All of the other comments in this thread are imbecilic. Cam likes to pass more than run. There is a reason its not happening

The reason that it is "not happening" is because LSU's weakness is in the DL and its ability to stop the run. Clearly, Miles wants to control the clock and keep the defense off the field. Harris is the future at QB but Jennings did a great job executing the game plan last night.

The NFL: Becoming a Dual-Threat Quarterback League: The Seahawks, Super Bowl Champs, run the read- option, same plays as Auburm, stole them from Auburn. 5 other NFL teams with Dual Threat, running QBs also run the read-option. These also happen to be the QBs with the best Passer Ratings because they make good decisions while throwing on the run. Several other NFL teams have Rushing QBs (Luck, Rodgers) with more than 50 rushes apiece.

Easy on the vitriol and generalizations, please:

Les's philosophy is to have a QB who is a game Manager, not a playmaker, not sure how many times you people need this explained to you

Les doesn't know what the hell he wants in a QB. JL was a game manager and he didn't want to play him. And he benched him the first chance he got. And getting Mettenburger was purr luck.

I'M not sure we'll ever have a competent game manager under Les Miles.

Hanagriff - "The scheme is bordering on ridiculous."

Everyone knows what LSU is going to do...example...I was listening to the first 5 minutes of the game on Sirius cause I was traveling back from NOLA and the Florida play by play guys makes the call and this statement after LSU's first play...

"Hand off to Fornette straight up the middle to the left side just as predicted"

I thought to myself shaking my head...true statement and it's embarrassing...

And you think that's a GOOD philosophy? I'm 60 years old... I could manage a game for him.

Zone read wasn't stolen from Auburn. Rich Rodriguez should be given credit for that over a decade ago.

BOOM........

HaniGriff is an over weight radio jocky. You (OP) put your faith in him?? Well considering you want LSU to run a spread with our middle school QB that started last night you've answered my question. Did you ever think Jennings can't do any more than what we run??? No I'm sure you (OP) didnt.
