Not reading whole thread, but the solution is simple. Fire Alleva and make Miles AD. Miles can hire his own replacement (sans Peveto).

Would our record be any better if Chavis was still here? Our front 7 would still be weak so we'd still lose to Bama and would still have been in the same malaise against Arkansas. Some of the other scores would've looked better on paper but that's about the only difference.
If you want Les fired now it probably wouldn't be any different.

To me, the issue is more Alleva running off Miles because of their personal difference rather than what it is taking place on the field. And if that is true, do we really want the guy that was too cheap and/or arrogant to keep Chavis around making our next hire?

Miles should get next season unless he loses out.

Same here. Firing talk is premature.

For those disputing the Chavis/Miles/Alleva meeting and what GG is saying this is not even the first time this has been known. Miles wanted to keep Chavis, he fought to keep Chavis. This is not news. It's just that most have been so blinded by their hate of Chavis that they haven't listened.

From my post on 1/9/15:

Alleva and Chavis had some discussions regarding his contract and Alleva was a dick about it. He created a difficult situation for LSU and made it even worse when it became a critical issue.

Miles going out this way should make every LSU fan angry as well as lacking any confidence that Alleva can find a good replacement.

Alleva hired two bad head football coaches while Duke’s athletic director before hiring David Cutcliffe. Carl Franks went 7-45, and Ted Roof went 6-45 before Cutcliffe, who wasn’t Alleva’s first choice.
It is tough to grade football coaches at a place like Duke based on records. Cutliffe proved to be a steal for Duke.

LSU Assistant football coaches have a lot to lose if Miles is gone. No contract is stable if HC is terminated. They will stick to the company line so they can have a little job security.

Guilbeau hits upon exactly what makes me uneasy... the thought of who Alleva would hire to replace Miles. I've seen nothing from Alleva to give me any reason to believe he would make a better hire:

Alleva's not going to make this hire. TAF is.

They don't trust Alleva to do the right thing any more than we do.

GG has made a career by calling Les Miles an idiot, now he wants us to keep him. That's rich!

If my choice is between Glen Guilbeau and Joe Alleva, I'll go with Joe Alleva every day of the week.
