Not taking up for the guy because god knows on this board, if you take up for the guy, you're obviously into BBQ.

Alot of write-ups I've read keeps saying the the OL will be a strength of the team this year.

Read here plenty of times that there's no way Greg Studrawa deserves a spot coaching at LSU because he's just terrible.

Last year, the OL mowed the way for a running game that gained over 2,000 yards rushing in 2010. If this line dominates like expected in 2011, who gets the credit and why? Did the coaches miraculously learn how to coach over a 2 year span?

My point of this thread is pretty much pointing out the obvious in fans overreacting to lack of depth and inexperience on the line, IMO. It proves that a coach takes alot of the burden whenever guys are young and inexperienced and there's just so much you can do. It also shows that it might be worth being patient and letting things play out the way the normally do in college football.

Alright, go. I know what's coming.

the line was average last year. lets see what actually happens this year. I don't think he is a good coach. We have the talent to be good. Sit T-bob on the bench.

2,414 yards rushing and a panicky QB. 1,000 yard rusher.

I think the lack of identity on offense hurt the O-line more than lack of talent, tho we did have attrition.

Blocking for Crowton's spread is a totally different philosophy than blocking for an I-based attack.

I've criticized Stud in the past, but if we have a true, consistent offensive philosophy this year, I think Stud shows himself to be a good O-line coach.

Especially if Will Blackwell can stay healthy.

I'm not a big Stud fan but that guy earned his check last year IMO. Two starters hurt, No passing game, D stacking the box every game, and we still managed those stats.

Also the first time Miles imposed his will on the Off scheme, and we ran the ball more out of traditional sets.

Simplify the offense and focus on technique- I think Stud will show his ability this year.

False. The line was dramatically better in 2007 after the now rantard favorite Searles left. Stud may not be great but we have only had one really bad line here in his tenure. He gets too much crap on this site.

I personally think we were spoiled at Center recently and Tbob didn't come in and be as good as expected. He had a big hole to fill. Now we have experience across the line and it showed last year and will improve this year.

I have learned to read aaalll the way through these posts and eventually I will find a similar response to what I would say. I would add that I do not envy his job one bit.

Most are familiar with my views on Studrawa.

I also thought it was an average line last year. T-Bob is not as good as advertised; Josh D showed improvement.

I believe with Crowton gone, he is the weakest link on the coaching staff. He seems to be known as a "rah, rah" guy whose teaching of technique is lacking. I did not agree with his decision last year to go with T-Bob over Williford when Blackwell went down--think there's a lot more upside and a better future with Williford who had practiced at guard & was the #2 right guard behind Blackwell.

I just think there are capable OL coaches out there that would be better--looks like we're stuck with him.

LSU fans want our Oline to be as good each year as three teams in their division, AL, AU, and ARK.

Even if the OL is the strongest point on the team in '11? Again, it takes time to develop experience and depth. Looks as if his lines a forming pretty well.

By no means do I think stud is a terrible coach but I feel like alot of last years o line success could have something to do with ben Wilkerson being on staff. I feel like he would be very energetic and involved and hands on in the players faces at practice pushing them to succeed like he and his nasty group of o lineman did in 03. And he wasn't too bad of a lineman himself

I have castigated and villified Greg "Coach Dud" "Dudrawa" Studrawa mercilessly elsewhere.

I have recently had some discussions where I found out that he doesn't necessarily have a whole heckuva lot of autonomy in terms of starting or sitting players, getting younger kids reps, etc.

I also wasn't giving him his due in terms of strategy, as I heard late in the year, he was doing a lot of our offensive game-planning when other folks were, uhm, minimized to a certain degree?

Not saying I believe everything I hear 100%, but I've heard enough to think that Miles may really meddle with the OL Decisions more than I ever realized. Which is quite plausible, given what we know about his background.

I also know for a fact that Studrawa has turned down other opportunities as a coordinator to remain at LSU. So, all in all, we may have protested too much.

In other words, I've heard that some of the decisions to play kids like Hebert, Hitt, and Black weren't always Greg's and Greg's alone.

Which is part of what heavily colored my opinions about him.
