The line was really bad in 2009, but showed improvement in 2010. I think a lot of our problem, which what was talked about by the coaches right before and after the bowl game was that our offense had no identity and our offensive line didn't know if it was a pulling option team, power running team, passing team, roll out passing team or what.
I think the line will be pretty good this year (although I think Barksdale will be missed more than people realize) and Coach Stud should get some credit for that as well as Miles and Krag if that happens. If not, then they all get the blame.
Also, don't forget that coach Studrawa is a really good recruiter as well.

Creating a dominant O-Line in a conference that is stacked with All-American defenses is a very rough undertaking. The O-Line may not have been very good with the passing game, but I think that has to do with the OC and offensive scheme; however, they had a dominant running game. Not too many teams were able to stop us from running the ball. And since we were able to run the ball, we were able to win.

How can you not like a guy named T-Bob. Not nicknamed, but actually printed on his birth certificate "T-Bob". Comeon!

IMHO, for every year that Big Ben is a GA on the staff, the OL has the chance to improve.
My guess is his credentials of having been an LSU All-American & the school's only Rimington Award winner makes the kids want to listen to what he has to say.

So, let me get this straight......
all of you guys know for a fact that Ben Wilkerson, a GA....is responsible for the improvement of the O-Line?

I have to agree the line was average certainly not dominant. The offensive line was physically dominated at times such as the Auburn game and very average many times during the season. Ridley's thousand was as much a product of his large number of carries than the offensive line.

Ben has had more influence than you know.....BUT, Stud had weathered some pretty harsh (some unfounded) criticism. Guys is a solid coach.

I'm not denying that....no doubt....
but to give more credit to him as if the actual coach has done.....par for the course

Only last year did he recruit well. the other years he recruited were bad.

Agree with Stud mainly recruiting well last year--but sorry guys on the other side, your arguments, while they aren't that bad are not convincing. Still think a school like LSU is capable of attracting a much better OL coach, esp. given the fact that Collins, C. White, Austin, etc., more size, is on its way.

How long has Stud been at lsu? This is the 1st year the line has improved
Ben Wilkerson.T-Bob backup. That sums up improvement.

will Josh D and T Bob be grandfathered into more PT than they deserve again? Reading that the line will be a strength in the spring is hardly an accomplishment. Lets see if they can even slow top DTs path to the QB by maybe 0.1 second this year in big games before we crown Stud.

Last year, the OL mowed the way for a running game that gained over 2,000 yards rushing in 2010. If this line dominates like expected in 2011, who gets the credit and why? Did the coaches miraculously learn how to coach over a 2 year span?
Can I blame the defensive coaches on the other team? I really wanna blame somebody.

Note the post above yours.
That would require common sense scarcely seen on this board.

If you can't throw the football....ie. 4td passes regular season, then you become pretty predictable. I think the o line did respectfully well considering there was no balance.

Marietta, actually- just off Dallas Hwy.
Close enough, either way.

I feel like alot of last years o line success could have something to do with ben Wilkerson being on staff. feel like he would be very energetic and involved and hands on in the players faces at practice pushing them to succeed like he and his nasty group of o lineman did in 03. And he wasn't too bad of a lineman himself
From what i heard, this is exactly what kind of coach stud is. He might not be the best coach per say but he is an in your face motivator type of guy.
