This is utter bullshite. Why do posters say shite like this? As if you actually know what play was called and what his reads were.
Jimbo doesn't run a simple offense. But hey don't let facts get in the way of your opinion.

Don't mention JaMarcus and Jayden in the same breath when talking about passing.

Jimbo on Jruss-
I never knew that guy,” Fisher said on ESPN 760, talking about the lazy player Russell has become. “His work ethic for us — everything I ever asked him to do, he did. He was smart, he carried three and four play packages at the line of scrimmage.”

But yeah... your armchair viewing of a player is more likely

There’s a reason he always had to be rolled out to one side of the field, he couldn’t see an entire field or make a progression

This didn't happen. Qbs that cant read the field or make progression DO NOT GET DRAFTED #1.

That is what doing “cough syrup” does to talent and kills the will to compete in all of life, let alone football. Just ask Ryan Leaf.

Watching that interview at halftime of the 07 BCS NC told me he had absolutely no shot at being a successful quarterback in the NFL.

The NFL should hire you then.

oh wait ...

Because it’s true, whether your little heart believes it or not

You don’t have to know what plays are being called to watch a QB’s eyes and his progressions genius

Where in my post did I mention Jayden?

What’s Jimbo supposed to say? He has no idea what he’s looking at and I haven’t been able to coach him? Jamarcus had insane arm talent which is the primary reason for his success. Multiple players on the team during his time at LSU told me he didn’t prepare much which is what you saw in the NFL too. Sorry it hurts your feelings.

He’s a lot more intelligent than you think. He operated a real offense and actually made reads which is more than I can say for most college QBs in “modern” offenses.

He also had his contract front loaded, $32,000,000 guaranteed.

He and his agent outsmarted the Raiders’ front office.

I remember the whispers that even while we were winning and JR was completing 7 yard outs, Saban was furious and about to put Matt Flynn in because JR couldn’t read the defense nor see the wide open WR running the post downfield as the play was designed to hit. Have nothing but admiration for JR though - was a fun era of LSU football

This is just revisionist, possibly racist, bullshite.

Jimbo ran a complicated offense and had glowing reviews of JR.

Why did he start JR over Flynn for 1.5 years?

Biggest mark on LSU will be that 2006 team never won a NC together. Way too talented. Should've won it in 2006 and 2007. To be fair though, we got fricked by refs in Auburn game.
