People are just saying that playing some tougher teams instead of the craptastic OOC schedule we have might better prepare the team for adversity down the road

Ehhh... you're going to get that in the SEC. I just want to see better teams for my own entertainment.

That's fine you have your opinion.....I'm not saying that doing that would tremendously hurt LSU or tremendously help LSU....although I can't see going to FSU, Texas, or Virginia in late February and getting rolled up because our pitchers haven't found their stuff completely yet or our hitters haven't found the groove yet actually helping us to be honest with you.

All I'm doing is trying to help you guys understand why it doesn't happen....hell Skip never did it. Yes he travelled to in state schools to help some buddies out and get the word out.

Doing what we did this year got us to Omaha and we won a game.....and with better coaching decisions and mannerisms I think we would have won at least 1 or 2 more games. It takes a good bit of baseball fortune to win it all in Omaha and we didn't have it....couple that with suspect coaching and Hale and Chinea leaving their bats in BR well that gets you 1-2. I just don't see how a series at Florida St. in February instead of playing Princeton at the Box would have helped us that much this year.

For the record....I don't think things like adversity, momentum, etc translate very well in baseball regular seasons at any level. It is very difficult to recreate the stakes of Omaha in the regular season. I heard people in Houston saying that that thing felt like a regional......to me it only did because their were more than two teams there. It didn't really mean anything.....the regional means everything when it is being played.

This I can respect.

It won't happen, but the honesty from the fan is something you don't see much here.

Away weekday series at Notre Dame should be interesting.

If you do well in the SEC you set yourself up well for a top 8 seed. Even if you don't play anyone in OOC. SOS can help you but if you take care of business in the SEC we have nothing to worry about.

For the universities themselves, athletics is not, nor should it be, a true business model. Not sure what's funny...

Lets be real here, the university and their athletic's programs are too separate entities entirely.

it needs posting in this thread.

the last true nonconference road series for LSU was Stetson, in 2007

i'm very interested in the Notre Dame series... I hope South Bend packs their place in a manner befitting what the LSU program has been in college baseball.

if they do we'll see more plane trip 2 game midweek series which will grow the sport

i was looking at the old schedules and they had 3 nonconference weekends to open the season instead of 4, which meant more midweek games

more midweek games means we develop more starters, instead of scrambling to get Johnny Wholestaff work in the one midweek game bc Lange and Poche each went 8 on the weekend

So Corey Kluber shoving it up our arse is the reason we haven't gone on the road in non conference since.

Are you saying this to back up the fact that LSU is weak because of a lack of OOC road games?

Because that's not the problem.

First, gotta love that spelling of Thibodaux.

Second, the OOC scheduling shouldn't surprise anyone. Teams don't want to come to BR for a beatdown, especially when LSU isn't going to return the favor by traveling for a series.

Mainieri gots to pad his win total in the regular season to counter the losses in the post season.

OOC schedule should help the young/inexperienced line-up for 2016 adjust to the college game

Holy shite. Had to look that up. I remember us getting destroyed in that series but didn't realize Kluber pitched for them

I think thats the problem. Skip would schedule a hard ooc to challenge his teams. Paul schedule cupcakes.

I really wish we'd start playing a series against ULL every year

Won't happen. Pawl's chocolate starfish can't stand to be so puckered so early in the season. Plus there is always the chance of losing the series.
