Duane was part of a great era in LSU Basketball. The LSU Nation is thinking of you and your family.

I will certainly do that. I'm in the Colleges Against Cancer club at ASU and our relay is coming up at the end of the month. I'll be sure to add his name to the list.

Will certainly do this, also. (And thanks, Appfan.)

Randy, Duane and his family will definitely be in my prayers. I graduated from Redemptorist with you in 1975 and remember Duane.

Very sorry to hear about Duane...I know folks that hung with him back in the day, and I dealt with him some when he worked at Cort..Wasn't he also nicknamed "Big Bird"?

Skillet,

Yes Big Bird was one of his nicknames as well. He also had a few others that aren't suitable for public viewing.

My prayers are definitely going for him. I knew his dad. I graduated from RHS in '69. I watched him play when RHS beat Central for the state title.

I graduated from RHS in '75 and played for two years with Duane. I can still remember the first time I saw him. He was playing ball before class in the parking lot beside the Junior High school on those old steel backboard goals. I could tell instantly when he had the ball that he definitely had game and plenty of touch to go with a real nice shot. And being 6'4" and about 190lbs in seventh grade didn't hurt either.

We shared a lot of good times together during high school and I can tell you I've never met a better person than Duane DeArmond.

Good Luck to you D.

I grew up watching you guys ... Duane, WS, Keith Richard, Stretch, et al ... great memories. I had a brother that graduated in '75 and a sister in '77 (I graduated in '80). If you're who I think you are, your sister taught me in 7th grade.

My prayers go out to Duane and his family. I'm sure he'll battle this cancer the same way he battled on the court.

While saying my prayers, I'll be sure to say one for both Duane and his family.

He and his family are in my prayers.
Don't know Disco except for pulling for him every time he got in a game. Best time of LSU Basketball ever.
Stick around Disco to see the rebirth of Tiger basketball.
