For the record, I do not call it the toss dive. I prefer "center sweep". "Center Sweep" makes no sense. And that's how I've always felt about this play.

LSU themselves most likely call in by several different names considering we block different ways. They base block it. They block down and pull the guard. They block down and pull the center. Calling it by one generic name is just wrong.

Agreed. Let's move forward now in adding more names for the play

We had a trick play for Dupre last year too, half back pass from Magee.

Watch the DL #93 on the right side for UF. He doesn't know where to go or what to do.

His head is spinning around looking for Fournette and you can see he's thinking "Where did he go?"

Power toss.
I would expect you could pull and fake the toss with pretty much same result.
Play fakes works best when pulling anyway

The flea flicker worked great this time, but lets be honest, it is a one receiver route and could easily be covered.

it worked because the OC saw how the defense was playing the pitch, otherwise it wouldn't have been called.

The point is that LSU dialed up a very well timed, and executed flea fleaker. It was beautiful. But 1 trick play doesn't make the argument that you can't play action off of the toss dive incorrect.

The occasional toss dive is an effective play, especially with Fournette and our line. However, we haven't lived off of it the way we did at times last year. Overuse is when predictability sets in. When it is sprinkled in with several other types of handoffs, sweeps, and such, it is just another way to add variation to a powerful rushing attack.

like the TE screen

The TE screen had Cam written all over it. He was expecting a blitz on 3rd down, and UF dropped back. If they had blitzed as he expected, it would have been an easy 1st down and a potential big gainer.

Bottom line- sometimes the D wins the chess match. It wasn't a bad gamble with the lead. It was safe, but had big play potential if he caught them blitzing.

It's also the second time we've run it.

Go check out the 2nd quarter of the Tennessee game in 2005. Yes, 2005.

I dont believe that. Its a learned behavior. A behavior pattern I noticed much more when in Louisiana than anywhere.

Do you folks not understand? That's why they've been running the toss dive for years - to prepare for the Toss Dive Flea Flicker against UF. All along, the name of the covert operation has been "Operation FloraFleaker". Current and former players and coaches have been required to sign an affadavit that they would not divulge any information about the operation. Also, note the very imaginative and indecipherable code name.

i loved the TE screen play call, but Florida had the perfect D for it.

Is this the time to bump this thread to point out that one of the arguments that several made over the years against the "toss dive" is that there is more of a chance to fumble than a regular handoff?

I mean, if one flea fleaker is enough to "show up the tards", I'm guessing Guice taking his eyes off of the pitch and fumbling grants
1 point for the tards.

Why is this a surprise or point of contention? Does your favorite team pass the ball more frequently on a run play than they do run it? Are you calling for a handful of flea flickers per game?
As much as we pound the ball, we could easily run 3 flea flickers a year and not take any of our other tricks out of the playbook.

In turn that helps the running game. Not sure how some people don't see this.

This year is the first year in a while that I have seen the offense mixing things up, using play action, etc. Heck, probably the first year in a while that we aren't subbing the running backs in and out every few plays.

The thing most promising about this play (and others similar) is that Harris threw the ball 53 yards down field on the money.
