It's funny that your father in law is coming in town during Notre Dame's bye week. He's trolling the shite out of you.

If she comes from money, dont rock the boat. If not, bail out of that shite quicker than you would a burning house.

Your wife should know by now not to plan dinner out on a Saturday in the fall unless there are large tv's. If you haven't taught her this by now it says a lot about you as a person. My wife would know and accept that A) I wouldn't go or B) it's just a really bad idea to begin with.

Clearly you set a tone early in the relationship that told her this kind of behavior was allowed.

You made your bed, now lay in it.

Easy! It's her Dad, let them go to dinner together while you watch the game.

Btw, your wife needs retraining. Seriously.

divorce

ETA:

1. Fall Saturday, made inconsiderate plans.
2. Father in Law does not like college FB, so wife raised by questionable character.
3. Wife doesnt acknowledge college ball being played.
4. Wife not in kitchen.

Nailed it.

Sack up this time and do what she wants with a smile, then on Sunday have a very loving talk that she is not respecting your interests, and she knows a year in advance what days are booked.

My wife is not a fan but respects my interests and won't let events like this come between us.

I'm the wife and I wouldn't do that. Find a restaurant with tvs ... who cares if it's not fancy? It's about spending time together AND being able to watch the game!

My daughter actually got married during and away LSU game

I have 2 sons and 1 daughter. The boys know that fall is not the time for a wedding. The daughter said (she's 13 1/2) said "well I'm gonna get married during football season". And I (her mom) said, "well I'm not gonna be there AND I'm not paying for a wedding that I'm not going to".

She changed her mind pretty quickly. Thank God I don't have to worry about this for years.

This
Fire up the grill and treat them to ribeyes at the house. This is what I do when my wife lines up some stupid shite like this. Watch tv while cooking and let them visit. Eat and ignore. Only down side is letting the old man have my recliner. I just drink enough before dinner that I don't care.
Do DVR game in case you miss some.
