I didnt think ESPN had anything to do with this though

Under the governing contracts, ESPN is entitled to exclusivity during their prime-time broadcasting window. That is, no other network is allowed to air SEC games during that window (with the exception of the ONE prime-time game accorded to CBS under the contract). Hence, if CBS wants to broadcast a SECOND prime time game, ESPN would have to assent and waive their exclusivity provision. That is the source of ESPN's negotiating leverage in this situation.

P.S. I still think that moving the game to prime time would just give Bama more of a home field advantage. F that. And yes, on principle, it pisses me off that Bama will have multiple home night SEC games this season while LSU will have none.

Not sure why CBS is doing this. It's a bad deal for them. They'll likely lose Alabama at LSU next year. Is it really worth it just to show this year's game at night.

2)Joe Aleva has NO CLUE how to negotiate and/or even ask to have at least one of our games moved to a night game. It obviously CAN be done,

No it can't be. Alabama/LSU is the game of the century.

Auburn/LSU and Florida/LSU are not near the importance. There is no chance CBS would listen.

And I'd bet a lot of money that the LSU/Alabama game time is 2:30.

Yes, if an LSU game will draw ratings so high that it will make up for CBS losing another big game the next year.

Now which of our home games did that?

frick this. If we can't get our games at night, I don't want ESPN and CBS bending over backwards to get the game at night for Bama. That's just more of an advantage for them.

How is that a terrible idea?

Would you rather play on the road in the day or at night?

If Alabama gets this game switched around to get THEIR biggest home game of the year at night then that is some serious bullshite and against compiles the unfairness in the SEC when put head to hear with an Alabama school.

I stand corrected...........

Absolutely none of our other SEC games was imporatant enough to move to a night game, or unimportant enough to leave alone as a night game.
No matter what, Aleva could not have salvaged our generations long tradition for at least one SEC home game. You and Joe are right. he should negotiate nothing and just go with the flow..........good catch.

I like this idea...Ideally LSU/Bama in 2012 will almost certainly be a night game at home, something we have lacked this season.

A bird in hand is worth two in the bush....This is a 1 vs 2 matchup late in the season that the majority of the nation believes is to seal up a spot in the national championship game....CBS doesnt get many chances like this

Does anybody really want to give the Gumps all day to get liquored up? I'd just as soon play the day game in T-town.

Its not like LSU hasn't played in loud environments on the road at night this season. I honestly don't think the bama crowd will cause anymore disruption than the cowbell or the hillbillies or the tenn fans. If this team is anything, its seasoned on the road. I'll take the chances. But I'm just a homer fan
