There's some serious rantardism in here. From thinking this has anything to do with schools and not networks, turning into Alleva is an idiot!/Bama is being given what they want, to thinking a night game at Bama is equivalent to a night game here. Ugh.

There are a whole group of you guys on here that just live to yank the chain of anybody who dares question the SEC / CBS TV contract's T&C's. You declare anyone who does not accept that the contract is absolutely written in stone, blind and stupid. Well, it is you who don't know enough to comment, and you are showing your limited ability to think outside of the box. After spending most of my adult life either negotiating through, or figuring out how to get around, contracts I can promise you that there is a way to do just about anything that you REALLY want to do. You just have to spend a little time and legal effort to get it done, and sometimes you have to compromise.
The fact of the matter is that Aleva gave us bullshite lipservice in Tuesday's letter and, although he may not have been successful, he could have tried to get out of any one of these moved games this season, but he did not. He needs to send a new letter out and promise to work his arse off to make sure that this never happens again in any future seasons, and he needs to get to work coming up with language to present to CBS when the contract is renegotiated adding A&M and Mizzou.
Our traditions are important enough to fight for. At least I think so, no matter what you contract expert brainiacs try to say otherwise.

so basically you think lsu should get special consideration in the next contract? that sounds fair and reasonable. since we are above everyone else in the conference, while we are at it, maybe joe should ask for some more money too. or all our games be played in tiger stadium. its just a contract, we can get around it.

Since the current contract is between the network (CBS) and the conference (SEC), how was Joe Aleva (who is the AD for LSU), supposed to negotiate his way out of moving a game this season?
Here's about how that conversation would work:
Joe Aleva: Hey CBS Executive, we have moved way too many games this season and are losing our tradition of playing games at night. Our fans love it, our players love it and our coaches love. Is there anything you can do that will allow us to play our games at night instead of during the daytime?
CBS Executive: No.
Joe Aleva: Please reconsider.
CBS Executive: No.
Joe Aleva: Pretty please with sugar on top.
CBS Executive: No
Joe Aleva: Well, um, were going to....er... I mean, I'm going to ....um.....our fans will boyco.....um......this isn't fair because.....
CBS Executive: No.
Huge newsflash. Joe Aleva has ZERO bargaining power with the networks. None. If you have no bargaining power you are unable to negotiate. Even when the SEC renegotiates the network contracts, LSU's representative (whoever that is at the time), will likely get outvoted by the other members regarding this issue.
Our alternative is to leave the conference and negotiate our own deal with the networks. How do you think that would go over with the fans? Probably not as good as a day game in Tiger Stadium.

He can, and should, try to have language inserted that only allows them to move "x" amount of home games from normal kick-off time to an earlier time. They should not have the right to move them all without the school having a say in the matter, no matter how highly we are ranked.
Since we split the whole contact amount equally with the other SEC schools, and get paid the same whether we play early, or not on TV at all, it would not harm us monetarily to only have to move a certian number of games a year.
Is it too much to ask him to negotiate on behalf of our traditions, and fanbase desires, since the opportunity to do so should arise soon?

Yes, he can approach CBS with new language. But as stated earlier, what the he'll is he going to do when they say no, and all of the other conference members vote to have it that way? Do you not understand what leverage is?

on College Football Live last night, they had a countdown clock to kickoff of LSU-Alabama and it was a 3:30 Eastern Time kickoff (2:30 for those in the Central Time Zone)
