It's interesting that all of these posters in Louisiana keep saying "they'll never be able to play the game there," but the posters who actually live in South Carolina are saying that things are not so apocalyptic

We have a vested interest in moving it. They have a vested interest in keeping it. The truth is somewhere in between.

I didn't see anything that said it was supposed to clear out today. Starting tomorrow, the rest of the week is supposed to be a lot nicer:

and we could have played the Arizona State game in Tiger Stadium as well...but it was played in Tempe

there are people that think just because the field will be dry that the game should be played there... they aren't taking into account all of the perimeter factors.

will it be played in columbia with the levee that just breached?

Rocky Ford Dam has breached now, per stormchaser dude. ETA: Will reflood parts of Columbia where the water had receded.

Of course, I have no idea how this impacts the stadium.

It doesn't luckily. Most of these dam breaches have been in the same part of Columbia.

i find it difficult to believe that a football game attracting 100,000+ people to the area will be played on saturday while the area emergency and state workers are in disaster response mode.

It'll be moved to a venue close to SC but not on campus IMO. Lets all take care not to act like those Tennessee pricks did when we had issues.

B/c the city's major infrastructure is pretty much fine. The airport never even slowed down yesterday, IIRC. The rivers should start going down tomorrow.

Nobody's expecting the stadium to flood, but if yall are in an all hands on deck emergency on Monday, it will be very very tough to have a game on Saturday. Folks in LA have some experience with this...

The analog of this particular situation is not Katrina, it's Gustav 2008. It came through BR on September 1 and was long gone by the following weekend, but the LSU-Troy game still had to be postponed because BR was still dealing with the aftermath.

That's the issue. I think LSU people keep comparing this to your experiences with major hurricanes. Yes, we receive a shite ton of rain. However, the bad flooding and damage has been mostly confined to one part of the city. You could hop in your car in BR and drive to Williams-Brice Stadium right now with zero delays.

you're missing the point though. police are going to be pulled away from policing the city during curfew to work a football game?

like what was posted, louisianians have a shite load of experience with hurricanes and football. it may not be in the cards for a columbia game this weekend, despite how dry the field will be.
