If basic services are not restored there will be no game in Columbia. Despite morons here.

I think it should be moved to Atlanta if it can't be played in Columbus.

I hear London is nice this time of year. Lol

They will make a call by Wednesday. My guess is Nashville or Atlanta if they can't do SC

What about Charlotte, do the Panthers have a game Sunday?

Charlotte would be much more preferable to Atlanta for us. The weather is supposed to be great and playing the game outside would be great. The problem is that it holds 7k fewer seats whereas Sanford Stadium holds 12k more and the Georgia dome is 9k less. I'm not sure UGA would allow them to play there, though.

UNC doesn't play this weekend and NC State is away. I wonder if these locations would be considered as well.

We moved a home game to Arizona State. If we moved one, it is a possibility.

frick'em. Move the game to BR. We have an open stadium, and I pretty sure we could fill it on short notice.

It doesn't say any of that crap you wrote!

Wat?

I only said it said one thing:

quote:

It says if the government determines the school needs to be closed, then they have to abide by that choice.

And this is the part that YOU bolded in the link YOU brought up:

quote:

As a state agency, the University must follow the delay and closing determinations of Richland County Government. (Please note this is not Richland County school districts.)

You really think those aren't the same statement? Really?

You think that says that a state of emergency automatically means that all schools close? Because if so, I am not the one imagining shite.

The last part (which I never said was in the link) comes from us here in LA having a lot of experience with being under a state of emergency. I know, different state, but you having shown anything to indicate that their application is different from ours.

You do realize I am going to bump this thread when the school is open later this week and a state of emergency is still in effect right?

No, the Panthers have a bye week, so if it has to be moved, Charlotte would probably be the best choice. We would have to make it work with the NASCAR race in the area, though.

If it's that important to you, then you have psychological issues and should seek counseling.

the infrastructure is a mess, power outages throughout the area, roads are flooded, boil advisory in effect and the city is under curfew with classes cancelled.

then you add 120,000 people to the mix on a saturday morning... seems like a recipe for disaster.

Yes, because 10 seconds (or even 15 total minutes over multiple days if you want to count all posts) of commitment is a true sign of "issues."

I'm just amused at how personally you are attacking when your own sources contradict you.

Curious how you will continue, seeing as you have yet to disappoint.

All of this is true TODAY. Fortunately, the game is not scheduled for today. Most of this will not be true by this weekend. There will be some parts of town with really bad damage, but people in Columbia seem to think that for MOST residents, things will be more or less back to normal by Wednesday or Thursday.

It's interesting that all of these posters in Louisiana keep saying "they'll never be able to play the game there," but the posters who actually live in South Carolina are saying that things are not so apocalyptic. Could they end up moving the game? Sure, if getting services back on line takes longer than expected. But I, personally, think it's more likely than not that the game will be played as scheduled.

Posted this in the other thread, but it was anchored for some reason. Columbia Canal levee has been breached. It supplies half the city's drinking water. LINK

ETA: Live stormchaser feed in Columbia. It was supposed to be clearing today, but it's still raining pretty hard LINK
