Well I think neither Hunter or Beasley will be playing DL, but still those are great times for LB prospects as well based on height and weight.

sacks come on pass plays, I dont see how setting the edge on a running play has anything to do with that.
With that being said his stats tell a different story. He also racked up 14 TFL(a pretty good number), so he's obviously being aggressive on running plays.
Furthermore, Sam Montgomery and Mingo had no problem getting sacks in the same scheme.

You still have to be able to get off a block....but GM's are usually pretty dumb and they will overlook that small fact.

i dont think anyone is going to want to have Hunter play on the DL either after watching his LSU tape.
all 3 guys are edge players.

Agreed.
IMO the biggest issue with Hunter was his pad level and he sometimes had issues identifying the play and would bite on fakes and crash inside, creating a big hole on the outside.
However, when he read it correctly and saw it develop, he was a force and very hard to stop. He would see it and attack in a hurry and make the play.
Pad level and doing better with his reads can be taught. You can't teach his size, length, speed, and athleticism.

There's a difference between setting the edge on a running play and playing contain on a mobile QB. Like I said, he was a let down as a pash rusher when asked to do so.
Mingo had 8 sacks and 4.5 sacks in his last 2 years. Sam was 9 and 8... I said Hunter needed 6-8 sacks to be effective. I'm not sure what you're disagreeing with..
Chavis' scheme was never going to lead to a prolific 12+ sack count.

He didn't jump.
But according to Moffitt, he had a 39inch vert over the summer.

its just funny you're making excuses for him then say "he should have been a 6-8 sack guy". Yea, we agree on that, he should have had more sacks. But he didnt. And it was because of him, not the scheme.
he had plenty of chances to rush the passer and wasnt good at it.

i wish he could have spent a year with ed O...he didn't have the natural skillz of a mingo so he was always going to need some hands-on corching up. definitely passes the eye test though.

That's on Haley like I been sayin. A lot of those guys that were comin out of LSU at DE had hardly no pass rush moves whatsoever including Mingo. Mingo just used pure speed to get to the QB. Hopefully Orgeron will fix this problem showing them proper technique to get to the QB.

His lack of production (TFL and Sacks)will still bring down his value. I say he gets into 3rd round .Def should've come back...

I've said he wasn't a good pass rushing DE twice now.
I was simply agreeing with another poster that the scheme did effect him and other DEs at LSU. They were never going to put up the prolific sack numbers that you see from other DEs around the country. It wasn't an excuse for Hunter being a poor pass rusher, it's just stating a fact. A fact that you even validated by bringing up Mingo and Montgomery's numbers.

Kwon Alexander just ran a 4.59.

13.5 TFL is a good #. Hunter was good at everything and produced everywhere except sacks. That's it. He was even 4th on the team in passes defender.
He was a mid 2nd / early 3rd rounder before the combine and improved his stock today.

Montgomery had 19 career sacks
Mingo had 15 career sacks
both had 8+ sack seasons(Sam did twice) which are single season top 10 in LSU football history.
Hunter had 4.5 career sacks.

Im telling y'all...he is another Vernon Gholston.

What matters is how teams utilize Hunter. He's big, fast and has a wide wing-span. There is more to football than just sacks.. it's about assignments, containment, batting down passes. He's got a great character and work ethic. I'm sure he'll work his hardest and develop into a great player.
Mingo made a great transition to OLB for the Browns. You don't hear about him with sacks in the NFL but he does his job and assignments.

Are you really this dense?
Top 10 in LSU history doesn't matter...neither of them were in the top 20 nationwide for sack totals in those seasons. Chavis' scheme didn't lead to prolific sack totals. Why don't you understand this?
I've already said Hunter was a poor pass rusher 4 times now. I'm not sure what else I'm supposed to say there.
