Perhaps :beatdeadhorse: but who gives a shirt.

Saban:
The last 2 years the stars aligned for ole Nicky. If there was ever a time when the SEC was down (SEC standards) it's been the last 2 years. LSU, Auburn, Ole Miss, UGA, Tenn, USC. None of those schools have fielded teams in the last 2 years that was able to compete. Before LSU Nick Saban didn't win anything. Also Colt McCoy goes down in the first quarter or we may not be having any discussion. Everyone forgets that Utah waxed that arse 2 years ago in the Sugar Bowl.

Urban Meyer:
I think cUM is the best college coach in the ranks right now. He has 2 NC's in the last 4 years, and won the '06 NC with players that didn't fit into his style of coaching. I do think he is in for a melt-down this year though.

Pete Carroll:
Completely and utterly over-hyped. He has had the best talent in college football and played in one of the weakest conferences for 10 years and still couldn't win. He was smart to get out when he did because his house of cards was gonna come crumbling down and he knew it.

Bobby Stoops:
I have to say that I think Bobby has had some crappy luck over the last few years with inuries, blown calls by the ref's, and the alignment of the stars for Boise State. With that being said he's played in 3 NC's and lost 2 of them. Quite honestly he was man-handled in those 2 losses. Hell, I can't remember when they last won a bowl game.

Mack Brown:
Again, Mack has the pick of the litter as far as recruiting goes. He has 1 NC and lost in another NC game. He can't beat Okie, and his teams never field a defense. He has won a crap-load of games in the last 8 years, but only 2 Big 12 Championships and 1 NC.

Les Miles:
Has been at LSU for 5 full seasons. In that time he has 1 NC, 1 SECC, 2 BCS Victories, He's 4-1 in bowl games, beaten Miami, Ohio State, Ga. Tech, Va. Tech, and Notre Dame in OC games. Everyone bitches about his play-calling, but I can remember only 1 situation where it didn't work out. And had JJ not taken a sack, we might have won that game. If my math is correct, he's 49 and 15 in that 5 year span. He had to make a decision about his starting QB, and did so. Likely knowing full well where we would be for the following few years.

You say what you want about Les Miles, but I can't see where there is that much difference between him and the other coaches I've listed here. He's quirky and an easy target because of his mannerisms and attitude, but he wins football games. That is all.

"other great coaches" is implying that Miles is also "great", which as we all know he is not.

ETA: You are correct, not only are you beating that dead horse, you are also slaughtering it too.

Every football coach in this nation will be judged on a 2-3 year span, not on what they have done previously. Stoops is recruiting well but better produce this season or the fan base will be restless. Carroll saw the proverbial handwriting on the wall. Mack, well...horn fans have been unhappy with the OC for a while, he has scapegoats in case of failure.

You suggest that he is a great coach. He is not. We can compare him to great coaches just not other great coaches.

At this juncture, if you truly believe that there is little difference between Miles and Saban/Meyer, then I have to conclude that you are simply a devoted Miles fanatic.

All the above being said, I still hope he has a great year...then I won't mind keeping the idiot for a couple more.

Mack Brown:
"He can't beat Okie" ??????

Really?? Mack has beating Okie 4 of the last 5 years.

Les is 8-8 in the SEC the last 2 years in what you describe as a down SEC. But you are probably right, Les is just as good as Nick.

lolzzzzz

This board is a lost cause. You won't find any support because all rational people no longer read this board.

Actually you forgot to mention that Saban has more to do with Miles' record than Miles does, especially in the first three years. Not to mention that if Saban doesn't precede Miles, there would be no MNC in 2007. It's the cold hard facts.
