You ppl amaze me, you can't see whats right in front of your face. Every damn thing they talked about on that show was spun into something about race. Go back and count up the number of times race was mentioned. Blacks claim to want to get past race, get to a point where race doesn't matter. But yet at every turn they throw race into the subject at hand. Just let it go. Until all ppl decide to do this things will never get better.

I hate to continue the "racist outrage" that some of you will call this, but it's true. Looking at it as objectively as possible, in the current times in America most white people are trying to get beyond race while blacks continue to harp on it. If you don't believe me then turn on your TV to CNN, MSNBC, or pretty much any other major news network and watch for five minutes. Again, I hate to make this about race, but this is the sad truth. Now cue everyone calling me racist for stating the unfortunate truth.

The real purpose of today's show was not so much to feature Louisiana football but rather to rehabilitate Steve McNair's legacy. John Saunders did want he wanted to do and the show suffered for the gesture.

My bad. Thanks for the catch.

Also, the moment I saw John Saunders was hosting the show I knew it was going to be a huge disappointment. I'm surprised he didn't start immediately talking about USC the moment he mentioned LSU.

To say that racism doesn't exist in America is ignoring the 400lb gorilla in the room. It does exist and just because "most" might be trying to move beyond it, it does exist. It will still exist if the NEWS programs talk about it or not. I'm not calling anyone a racist.

As far as CFBL I admit it was poorly done and they stretched the connection of Steve McNair and the HBCU's in Louisiana. They should have spent WAAAAY more time talking about the most prominent football program in the state.

The first black football varsity Letterman at LSU wasn't until 1972. Doug Williams was simply stating the facts of why he didn't go to LSU. They didn't have black players there for whatever reason. More than likely because they weren't recruited..

With that being said

I may be off by a year but Willimas was at Grambling from 74-77 when blacks were being recruited by LSU. Plus LSU had recruited Carl Otis Trimble to play QB about that same time, so the whole "blacks couldn't QB at LSU" reasoning is somewhat misleading. Personally i think it was a case of Williams wanting to play for Robertson and Grambling.

Yes, and this thread is perfect evidence of whitey moving above and beyond the issues of race.

I for one thought the show was okay, sure it wasn't about LSU for the whole 25 minutes, but it was about Louisiana college football not just LSU. Saunders messed up the video calls, but hell he said LSU ugh Louisiana football the whole show. We should be proud of our football heritage. Eddie Robinson is one of the greatest coaches in history and deserves 15 minutes of conversation because when the season starts Grambling won't be mentioned again. People need to chill ESPN gave LSU two weeks of positive PR during the CWS broadcast, so get over it.
On the race issue, people have been racist since man became a species, so white, black, red, yellow, and any other color should STFU and stop crying. Also slavery has been around since then too so get over it! Work hard and stop blaming someone else or the government for your failures.

As a disclaimer, I will state that I did not see the show. . .my only impression of the show is based on this thread. That being said. . .

There is a college in the state of Louisiana with an enrollment of around 4,000 that has produced over 200 NFL players and the same number of NFL Hall of Fame members and the University of Texas. Regardless of what type of school it is I am proud that it is located in my state and I think it is worth being mentioned.

It is unfortunate that a thirty minute program couldn't give LSU due diligence but decisions have to be made.

What is also unfortunate is how quickly these threads devolve. If LSU being the premiere football program in the state is your argument for increased coverage then support it and be prepared for counter arguments.

What is an embarrassment for me as a native of this state that has to defend it from time to time due to the caricatures of its people and customs either presented in media or inferred is the rehashing of silly arguments that are so predictable.

So please, if in the future you need to argue that blacks are the one's who want racism to leave but keep bringing it up here are a few suggestions:

1. You probably should avoid blanket statements that lead to characterizations. . .that goes completely against your point. And labeling it as "objective" does not negate the fact that a characteristic has been assigned to a group of people as though they were monolithic.

2. If you are going to suggest a data source like the news media and provide a time period to watch , then make sure that it is reasonable. Hyperbole is a characteristic of those with weak arguments. . .it's like blood in the water.

3. And above all, please don't play the race card in your argument against the playing of the race card. The "go ahead and call me a racist" card is a part of the same deck the other race card comes from. It is effective because any criticism can be construed as "pc", "white guilt", "reverse discrimination", etc.

Some teachers suggest providing an example and non-example. . .I have a non-example:

I hate to continue the "racist outrage" that some of you will call this, but it's true. On a lighter note, Dennis Dodd (cbssportsline.com) selected Ciron as the guy he would start a college football team with in an article on the site now. . .obviously white guilt ( )
