Uh Auburn, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, aTm. These schools have won with mediocre talent and have just now starting getting some superior players.

You can watch a team on any level and tell if they they are organized, have situational awareness, are prepared, make adjustments, and the schemes plays to their strengths.

Talent isn't the only component in football. Or any sport for that matter.

I don't think he is wrong, but has this douche EVER said anything good about LSU.

I've heard him on radio several times and he really seems to be a big Saban fanboy

Basically, he laid out a number of issues that are consistent with what many have been saying for years.

In football circles, Les Miles teams have never been considered the most prepared or tecnhically sound.

Miles has won with superior talent. Talent development is an issue. LSU has put a lot of players in the NFL because it has recruited superior talent, but LSU players are not well developed when they get to the next level.

Recruiting has to be anticipatory. College teams lose players to graduation or the NFL, so that has to be anticipated when making recruiting decisions. Problem for LSU is recruiting has slipped and LSU hasn't been able to fill the gaps.

If you have talent gaps, scheme around them. Miles and Chavis can't do that, so the wheels come off quickly when the talent drops.

NEVER put your program in a position where you have two QBs as inexperienced as LSU does this year.

The Fulmer comparison was a warning. Fulmer and Chief won with superior talent. However, as soon as recruiting slipped, things went downhill quickly, and Tenn program has been a dumpster fire since then. If LSU doesn't "nip this in the bud" then LSU program could suffer for years. Did not say fire Miles, but said if Miles doesn't turn things around then it could be ugly for a while.

Consistent time management problems that go uncorrected is a sign of bigger problems.

All anybody has to do is look at the 2014 class to realize we aren't in decline.

Sounds like we may be in for more than just a down year this year.

He's been a good recruiter over the years but a lot of that can be attributed to Saban starting the trend of LA players staying home.

My God, It's been TEN BLEEPING YEARS!!!! Les just brought in the #2 class, most of which is playing from the first game of their careers! Recruiting is not slipping, other than the dumpster fire that was in-state recruiting in 2012.

If Les was such a bad recruiter, then why isn't Saban getting every recruit out of Louisiana? I doubt Saban has any interest in allowing the "trend of players staying home" in Louisiana continuing (See Collins, L. and Robinson, C.).

These players are here more because of Miles than anything Saban did. After all, they were less than 10 years old when he left.

The criticism of Les being unable to win without overwhelming talent may be correct. But the recruiting has not slipped, except for one year that is killing us right now. And if the NFL prep was so bad, then why do we put more players in the NFL than Bama, who has out recruited everybody for the last five years?

Landry is spot on...and I know nothing about him. Clock issues are a embarrassment and shows how aloof Miles is. He has won with talent and talent alone. After the last couple of weeks, this board cannot offer anymore fresh opinions. All opinions have been exhausted. We have to see some kind of improvement. The biggest alarm this season is that their has been no progression with this young team. None! I knew we were not going to win any championships this season, but I was looking forward to see the steady improvement game to game. Hopefully it starts today....but if at the end of the season there is none, Miles has to be on the hot seat.

I think this is as good an assessment of the LSU program that I have heard. I think Landry is spot on here. This is a brutally honest assessment of Miles and his staff but it is fair.

Yet you can forecast LSU's future based on those same 6 games?

I have a really hard time following that logic.

The most perplexing and long term issue with Miles is clock management

This completely undermines attempts to defend any of his team's preparation and also other game management skills.

In other words, any time I want to give the man the benefit of the doubt and even credit for what he does and has done, I can't get the idiot part out of my mind long enough to appreciate the savant.

From a financial standpoint, Miles is going to wear out his welcome, IMO. He deserves for this to end well, and I just don't see it happening. His cycle has run, and without the ability to identify and develop, or let develop, a QB, the pressure to keep NFL talent at most positions on his overly burdened defense is too much.

Yes, Miles has recruited well if the only criteria you measure by is how many stars the players receive on Rivals or 247, but there are glaring holes and recruiting failures when looking at specific team needs.

Lots of stars but really did not address our most immediate needs as well as it could, see the post above about anticipation in recruiting.

1) Does Saban win with superior talent? I think so, his Dolphins experience exposed this as NFL talent differential isn't as wide between other NFL teams.

2) I recall listening to Chris Landry saying about 6 years ago LSU/Les Miles doesn't develop NFL talent, see NFL draft results last several years

3) Les Miles miscues get blown-up, other coaches seem to get a pass

4) Les Miles is a great coach. We're going through growing pains with new QBs. I'm disappointed we don't have a capable, experienced QB that should be starting now but it was a miss by Les and coaches in recruiting several years in the making.

5) This year is rough, we'll be on the 10 win train next season. Hang in there.

no but people saying we are going to be contenders based on this one class is hilarious. the 2011, 2012, and 2013 classes were highly regarded as well and they haven't done shite for us.
