Please...exactly the opposite. You really think he went in and told the "higher ups" that he was leaving and taking the same position at A&M. Like I said, he likely told some people that he had to think about some things, and everyone likely knew what was going on. Also like I said, I would expect that they settle for a smaller amount.

I never play dumb.

They can prove it if he did inform everyone after the game

All he had to do was inform his immediate supervisor - Mess Miles.

The $400k should be a signing bonus for our new D Coordinator.

going after the $400k in this manner makes us look petty. this may hurt us in our next coaching search

This.

There is a tremendous amount of butthurt anger among a lot of LSU posters that is typical when someone gets jilted.

Alleva is not getting the $400k back. He played hardball, was a dick about it, and ultimately got played.

This from TAF.

I don't think Miles would have wanted him to coach if he informed him before the game.

Baseless opinion but there you have it

This threat says a lot about Alleva, and, unfortunately LSU's Athletic Dept under him.
It DOES look petty and unlikely to succeed.
AND if we are relying on La. Jurisdiction to give us a friendly LSU- favorable judge to give us relief we are not entitled to, we look corrupt, as well.
I don't like what Chavis did, but he was free to do so.
I am more concerned about how our AD handled it initially and continues to do so . AND it looks like Alleva never had a Plan B in the works in case Chavis left.
THAT is the biggest! most troubling story...

I depends on the contract and extension in my opinion.

If it's clear he owes 400k then go after it.

We were a stingy school pre-Saban. And now we're reverting back.

The point of a buyout is to deter suitors/get some money if the coach does leave. What is the point of having it in a contract if you are just going to let it slide? There is nothing petty about enforcing a contract.

it's obviously not

it appears there was an offer from TAMU that wasn't accepted until yesterday. Chavis gave LSU the opportunity to match and we said no

hell, if les flipped out on chavis when chavis was still giving LSU the opportunity to match, then they could argue LSU breached the current deal

there is also an end to the buyout, which ended last night when the clock went from 11:59 to 12:00 am

and the buyout ended at midnight, per the contract
