Anyone ever done this?

I remember as a kid my dad took us to Atalanta and (during BP) got Russ Springers attention by yelling something about LSU. He was really cool. He chatted with us 5 min and even gave us a few baseballs.

I also remember this happening in KC with Kirk Leskanic (sp).

Anyone have any similar experiences?

Do most former LSU players enjoy meeting LSU fans in big league parks?

We will be in SF next Friday for Phillies/Giants and I'd like to talk to Nola.

Austin Nola gave me a head nod when I said, "Geaux Tigers" as he was in the on-deck circle

I don't know how much Aaron Nola cares about LSU, but he loves Baton Rouge. I doubt guys like Jacoby Jones care, but I'm sure the vast majority love a bit of a reminder of their college days,.

Not really a conversation but was at a Cubs/Braves game in Atlanta and yelled Geaux Tigers to Theriot and Fontenot when they were in front of their dugout and both acknowledged it with a big wave.
I've talked to other people who have done similar things with other former Tigers and got a similar response.
I have some relatives who were at a autograph signing in Houston when Dominick Davis played for the Texans and when they tried to get him to sign something LSU and some guber with the Texans said he would only sign Texan's stuff and Dominick was very emphatic that he WOULD BE GLAD to sign something LSU. They said he was very friendly and appreciated them dropping by.

Jacoby jones?

Prolly a bad example. Pretty sure he grew up a lsu fan. There is a reason he turned ole miss and state down to come to BR. And a lot of money

It probably annoys the hell out of them. They'll be polite in most cases, but talking to fans about LSU every day must get old fast.

U really think there's LSU fans at every game in every city

Maybe in Houston or Atlanta but not other places

I know the Nolas pretty well (Aaron more than Austin) and I'm sure he'd love to chat with you for a few minutes if it's his off day. I could see how making it big could get to some players heads, but not Aaron.

Went to the lsu Arizona football game in 2003 in Az. Night before the game went a bar called the French quarter or something local. Was owned by a Louisiana guy who went to business school at Arizona if memory serves me.

Anyway, at that bar, talked with Brad Cresse. Talked about a hit I saw in person in Omaha how the hell it didn't leave the park. Good times.

Since we're here. Several years back, I met a guy in Pollock who had grown up with and remained friends with Russ. The exact details of his story escape me but he was telling me about one of Bonds last visits to Houston, Russ was going to hit Bonds come hell or high water. He threw a couple way inside, caught a warning from the ump, threw at Bonds again hit him and got tossed. Walked off as casual as ever to a roar of applause. I wish I could remember what he said Russ said about it but it had me rolling at the time.

Talked to Bregman for about 15 min when Corpus was visiting Frisco this year. He noticed my Yellow LSU shirt and I yelled Geauxtigers

Cool arse dude. Wish they were all that down to Earth.

When I was a lot younger I broought a ball to Z's games and got several LSU stars from the 90's Championship teams. Also got Warren Morris to sign a framed print of his classic raised fist after THE HR.
