An SEC team wins the title every year once that starts.

That's crazy, theres only usually 2 teams that are elite each year at most 3 or 4 and most of them will be in SEC.

So, 8 extra teams that have no business being there and will get blown out instead of just the usual 1.

I understand the financial reasons behind this. But damn, we can’t even find four worthy teams as it is. Now we’ll have to endure truly mediocre teams whining about being left out.

Four more four-team playoffs. They should have started it earlier.

ETA: so it could start as early as 2024 per Ross.

I would guess they might have to cut back on conference or nonconference games for the added playoff games. Is that a possibility?

Wonder how this starts affecting the non conference scheduling. The Fla st, Texas, Oregon season openers aren't necessary at all anymore. If you can just get through the sec with one or two losses your almost guaranteed a spot. Im guessing top 4 teams get a bye first round?

Then we need to drop conference championship games. College kids shouldn’t be playing as many games as the NFL year in and out.
