Titans really need to trade back acquire more picks and get white or Cooper. But then again they need a lot more to even contend. I believe even if Titans keep the 2nd pick they pass on mariota

Mariotta is just not that great of a prospect. And what does trading the second pick for Phillip Rivers and a fourth get you? An experienced QB that is going to get injured on a team with many holes on both sides of the ball. If the Titans were smart, they would either take Williams or trade back for more early picks. Build your team rather than giving away a high draft pick for a guy that will get you 4-5 more wins tops. Going back 15 years, the only top 10 pick QB to win a Super Bowl is Eli Manning. The league is not moving away from any type of QB. The league is typically won by a team that has a good QB on discout.

You serious, Clark? One bad game against the best defense in the league and now the NFL is moving away from pure pocket passers? How did the Broncos get the Superbowl with such a pure pocket passer? And Tom Brady says hello. You know, the pocket passer who just beat the Seahawks in the Superbowl.

I never said that every pocket passer in the league was gone. But, guys like Manning are disappearing. He's a statue in the pocket and if the Oline is having an off day. He's done.

no, they're really not.

because he's 39 years old and has a noodle for an arm now after a serious neck injury...not because he's a pocket passer

Everyone always forgets about McNabb, Cunningham, McNair, and Young.

no one forgets about them, but they were not the norm. most of the successful QBs have always been traditional pocket QBs

why? i hope you dont expect to see Marcus Mariota stay healthy...Mariota would take more hits than Mett will
I disagree. Yes Mariotta runs more, so may get tackled more often, but his quickness elusiveness will help him from getting the huge pile driving hits. I have never seen a QB just get absolutely drilled as much as Mett does. He just stands like a statue and gets crushed. It was brutal here in Nashville last year. He is tough as nails but it is hard to stay healthy like that

because he took a pounding all last year because of how horrible the Titans OL was?
The Saints Oline was dogshit last year, and Green bay has been dogshit in multiple years under Rodgers, yet Rodgers and Brees are able to step up or maneuver enough to not take absolute crushing hits. Even slow guys like manning, rivers, and brady are able to feel the pocket and not get crushed regularly. The problem with Mett is he has zero mobility to escape or take a glancing blow, instead he is straight up and gets crushed. It is a legit concern with him

Metts arm is stronger than Mariottas imo.

Mettenberger's arm is stronger and more accurate than 80 percent of the current NFL QB's, much less guys coming out of college.

They certainly haven't been good, but they are most definitely not dogshit. Dogshit is what the Raiders have had the last 12 years.

. We've seen what an aggressive defense can do to a quarterback who has zero mobility [Manning vs. Seahawks].

Please. Manning is way more mobile than Mett and is a quicker decision maker getting rid of the ball to the right receiver. Mett will never be as mobile as Manning but will be better and quicker with the ball (than he currently is) with more experience.

It's not weird. Some of you have this blind praise for Mettenberger and act like the thought of Tennessee drafting another QB is blasphemy.

The Titans taking a QB should be blasphemy. Nothing to do with Mett here at all. They would be a far better off team with help around their QB regardless of who it is. Mett definitely is better than plenty of QBs who have won a super bowl ring on potential. However the difference between those less talented QBs who have a ring and Mett is they had a defense and skill position players to lean on where Mett doesnt.

I agree 11. I am not high on the top 2 QBs in this class. Perhaps one or both will prove me wrong. I think the Titans should trade down and get multiple picks. Trading and getting a Rivers or a Cutler is crazy IMHO. My problem with Marcus is that he appears to be a Locker from a better team in college. Both are great guys, both have/had mobility and decent arms. Whomever is behind the center for the Titans this year will be lucky to get to 8-8 and Nashville would be delighted.

Do you really think this bullshite actually supports an argument?

I don't think Tennessee is saying Mett isn't a starter, they are saying their OL sux and they need a mobile QB for a few years until they build a better OL then teach that mobile QB to stay in the pocket (cam newton)
