nce we get a few innings into the game, it doesn't matter. Our lineup can hit 1-9. He could come up with men on, or he could come up with no one on base. He may randomly lead off an inning, the same way he could hitting anywhere else in the lineup.
Very true. And here's my very minor nitpick of the order: I'd flip Laird and Chinea. That way, you essentially have a new top of the order at the 6-8 slots: a typical leadoff OBP/speed guy in Stevenson, Laird as a contact two-hole hitter, and Chinea as a power guy in the three slot. It would be like flipping the lineup over early.
There's really minor, and likely won't matter, but I like the idea of having a second top of the order.

Hard to argue with getting potentially your best hitter more at-bats.
Statistically he's not the best hitter.
I personally like Laird or Fraley, but if Bregman gets hot he may get the team moving.

I have to agree with Lester on this one. However I'm good with the move, nothing wrong with shaking things up a bit as most of the Tiger's BA's have been dropping since the regular season ended.

Statistically, the team has hit for shite over the last three weeks. Bregman is LSU's best player, and he will have to play like it if any run in Omaha is going to happen.

That's the problem.....has anyone had success?
There is not a clear lead off hitter on the team.

Hopefully Breg sets the tone at lead off. I am glad he is shaking things up.

When it comes to motivating and managing team psychology, Mainieri is about as far away from Bertman as it gets.
This. He should be the general leading the troops.
Too often, when the team faces a little bit of adversity, he instead looks like he's about to puke his scrambled eggs.
