When it comes to motivating and managing team psychology, Mainieri is about as far away from Bertman as it gets.

Yea....maybe Maineri should go see a sports psychologist on mannerisms, attitude, and appearance and how it affects people that look to you for leadership.

I like the changes. The offense has clearly been slumping so take a shot to mix it up. I was actually talking Sunday how I thought we need to move Laird out of the leadoff spot.

I like it. Mainieri was too passive on Sunday, and sat on his hands as the game got away from him. He's also done the same thing in previous games, like the Houston loss last year. His sin is normally one of inaction. I like that he is doing something radical to shake the team up.

He's also opening himself up to a boatload of criticism if it doesn't work. He put his own arse on the line. This is a very un-Mainieri-like move. He's not a pretty conservative in-game manager.

Although I don't like Bregman at leadoff....looking at this lineup again this should be a lineup that gives you opportunities to score runs. Any inning that you are in you should have a pretty good opportunity to get runners on with 0 or 1 out and then have somebody up relatively shortly who is dangerous.

Of course I probably would say that about Sunday's lineup too

he was going to be criticized if he did nothing too. So, may as well go out swinging.

He should have never led off IMO...Laird is dangerous with other people on base....when you can play him straight up without worrying about anything else....he becomes a clandestine hitter at best with few options. Not to mention turning the lineup over to him is crazy at best.

I will say on Bregman....you absolutely love turning the lineup over to him under normal circumstances.

Just more ammunition our fanbase will use when calling for the head of CPM if we lose.

It would be way worse if he didn't shake the lineup and the team struggled at the plate again.

I don't mind the change at all. Something in the batting order needed to.

Now for leaving pitchers in too long....hopefully Lange will cruise.

I mean, essentially he leads off 1 inning; the 1st.

once we get a few innings into the game, it doesn't matter. Our lineup can hit 1-9. He could come up with men on, or he could come up with no one on base. He may randomly lead off an inning, the same way he could hitting anywhere else in the lineup.

hopefully this can jump start us, but when it comes down to it, you dont really win/lose games based on your line up with a team of this caliber.

100% agree...this is just nitpicking at this point.

If we hit again like we hit on Sunday, no matter where you are in the lineup, it is still going to be hard to win.

Our middle of the order is either going to rape the frick out of Fullerton or strike out 100 billion times.

Scivique, Hale, Sciambra.....yea that is a slight concern as well I'd say. I think Scivique will be OK especially against this hard thower. Hale and Sciambra just need to keep it together and be smart at the plate.
