I've always argued that Miles' niche is as Motivating CEO and not a controlling CEO. As long as he has good to great coordinators, he'll have great teams. I think he has good to great coordinators now.

To a certain point, every coach at a major program is a CEO and relies heavily on his assistants and coordinators. I get that these guys cut their teeth under Saban, but the fact remains that every good coach has to surround himself with quality guys.

This is the only thing that still worries me.

BUT... Miles will be LSU's coach as long as HE wants to.

And HE DESERVES IT. Even from previous distractors which I have been one.

It's HIS team, HIS program and I'm cool with it regardless of tomorrow's outcome.

That said,

I was wrong about Miles being long-term successful at LSU. He has been great (maddening at times, but great.)

If LSU loses to Bama tomorrow, I won't feel any different...
Kudos to you for posting this. I share your viewpoints completely. There was a time I had Saban envy when he first went to Bama. It was as much that I felt he'd resurrect their fortunes as it was I wanted him back at LSU. But now I can say I do not want him back at LSU, and I do want Coach Miles to stay as LSU's coach for a long time. He has put together a pretty great coaching staff, and together, they have put together some impressive athletes and an impressive LSU team!
I am optimistic about tomorrow!

Don't get cute.

Saban helped build what we know as LSU football now. I don't need to discredit his success to feel better.

This is Miles program. And he's fielded the best LSU team I have ever seen in my lifetime.

I thank Nick, but there was a pretty successful LSU long before he came to BR and btw, I said nothing bout Nick one way of the other in my post.

You have NS on the brain?

I was over NS in Dec 04 when he decided LSU was no longer the place for him and frankly, LSU hasn't missed a beat in the 7 yrs since he left.
