but i am not going to get into that. Miles has coached flawlessly so far this season. Even in wins in years past I could always find nitpick things to complain about.

I just hope this continues tomorrow. I can deal with losing if Miles and our other coaches put us in position to win. That's all I really ask of him. When he starts making decisions that compromise the team, that is where I have major beef. Let the cards fall where they may, just put our guys in position to win and they will do that more times than not

You had me up to here:
quote:

If LSU loses to Bama tomorrow, I won't feel any different

then you added this disclaimer, which seemed to refute everything you said before:
quote:

(barring some bizarre end of game clock management issues!

So to me that says you're fully on the Miles bandwagon, yet you reserve the right to jump back off if there's some event that displeases you.

So you admit you were wrong about Miles, but if something happens, you may change your mind again.

You're over-complicating this. I wasn't willing to say these things about Miles when it seemed there was a weekly MAJOR screwup that cost games or had the potential to cost games.

Barring him returning to that sort of behavior (something I don't anticipate) I expect to support him for years to come.

OK, to me that last sentence read if there's a major screwup in the Bama game, all bets are off.

So, I'd like to eat some crow BEFORE the Bama game and say I was wrong about Miles being long-term successful at LSU. He has been great (maddening at times, but great.)

If LSU loses to Bama tomorrow, I won't feel any different (barring some bizarre end of game clock management issues!).

Okay. I can't tell from your post with all of the back-handed compliments towards Miles plus your crush on Saban. Are you pulling for LSU tomorrow or his your love for Saban too strong and you're with the Tide ?

Certainly not if it's just screwed up execution or something. But if I see 45 seconds tick off the clock when LSU is behind and there's only a minute left and we have 3 timeouts, then yes...all bets are off.

The use of the word "bizarre" is a pretty big disclaimer. In other words, it would take something that is very strange or unusual.

The 2010 Tennessee game was a series of bizarre events.

Miles took care of the cause of those events.

I agree with you 100%. I used to feel the same way about Miles and now I wouldnt want another coach. He's won me over, for sure!

Holy shite! I almost fell out of my chair. I remember you being particularly negative in the past.

To be fair, this season we haven't had a game close enough where a pivotal coaching decision would have made the difference.

And just think, we won't have to hear that crap about Miles winning with Saban's players.

Nah, but it takes a certain level of competence to build a program to this point. I always have liked Miles and never wanted him to be fired, but never had much faith in him. Last year changed my mind a bit, and feel he can now be put in the elite class. Maybe not the best, yet...but certainly higher than I suspected he would ever become again.

My opinion was that if Miles surrounded himself with competent detail people, he could be one of the best.

Funny thing is no matter how bad Saban screws up Bama fans will find something else to blame it on.

Just sounds so back-handed to me.....you DO realize EVERY coach needs competent/detailed help or it would NOT work at this level.

Just accept Miles for what he is.....and does well.....AND his limitations.

The sumbitch is a WINNER.....plain and simple

This game saved his job, IMO.

I doubt that anyone will be calling for his head if LSU loses tomorrow. However, people will point out things such as the fact that it's been 4 years since our last SEC West title and trip to the SECCG, and that Bama has been twice since then. It's the nature of the beast.

If we beat up on WKU and Ole Miss, then finish with a win over Arky, all will be right with the world again.
