It's not the design that concerns me, it's the fact that there will be more empty seats and an even deader atmosphere than it already is.

Send an e-mail or letter to all the offending advertisers and tell them you'll not be buying their product because of this. Contact Alleva as well. Enough people complaining is the only thing that might possibly have any effect at all.

LSU needs to just run the ads during pre-game, half-time and during time outs. The boards can be programmed for that. During the game itself, there should be no ads at all. There shouldn't be any permanent ads anywhere in the stadium! Cheap, tawdry and tacky and it's worse by far at LSU than anywhere else in the SEC.

Also, don't like the two small video screems in each corner instead of one big one.

And all those big unevenly spaced/sized block structures on top of the structure as seen in the renderings are aesthetic eyesores. That's just gross negligence/incompetence in the design process (Just like the Pipe) and unacceptable.

I will agree that the arches should be placed in a place where they appear to be performing their historic function. Clearly they look out of place in the second rendering.

As for why the change, it is probably a cost issue.

It doesn't bother you that the pipe fiasco looks half-arse?

Again I'm not a professional, but I think it's pretty rare to have arch windows below another set of windows.

The arches are there to send your eyes up and make the building look taller.

In the first rendering, you are halting the viewers eyes by putting another set of windows above the arches, thus the building seems shorter.

They've done a lot of work to mitigate the ugly design of the west upper deck too.

The improvements around the stadium are very impressive. Replacing the windows on the older sections made a massive difference.

Coke mcdonalds and cox pour money into this program. They indirectly paid for the expansion and will be putting more money into our oft complained about lack of a recruiting budget.

I don't mind them. Note: I don't work for any of them either.

It's easy to confuse the scale. Either placement of the arches is going to be far higher than the north side, so I don't see it as letting a certain aesthetic slip away. I'm also glad someone posted what the south end zone looked like before construction; it doesn't match the stadium at all. So I think nitpicking about arches shows you the design effort that was made to resemble the north side.

An initial complaint was the structure looked like it was globbed onto the stadium, leaving it piecemeal. I walked right under the construction last night and at this point it looks nicer and more blended with the east and west sides than the renderings.

Check up on your mechanical engineering skills. The higher arches do not have to support as much weight as the lower ones would demand.

it looks like the arch windows were moved up to the suite level. may be just that simple.

I agree with this. Both designs look great to me, but I prefer the arches to be on the uppermost set of windows. They are more prominent there, and arches are traditionally at the top of a structure. In fact, having them below the upper row of rectangular windows, as in the first design, makes the upper row look like an add-on.

Looks like they left off the brown bars from the windows on the south side just like they did on the models for the west side.

Arches DO NOT "have" to go on top... unless of course you think this lesser known structure is built wrong. ;)
