Apparent Shift in Tiger Stadium Expansion Design

I'm wondering if anyone on here has any knowledge of what appears to be a shift in the design of the end zone expansion of the stadium, specifically with regard to the placement of the arches.
Here's one rendering (posted April 2012): Arches Placed Lower
Here's a different rendering (which I assume is more current and was posted on LSUSports.net): Arches Placed Higher
And an image that looks more like the second one (posted on the contractor's website): Arches Placed Higher
The question I have is this: Why was the design changed from the first rendering to the second, with the arches shifted upward. In my mind, the arches in the first rendering are much more like the actual arches in the stadium.
I understand that there are shifts in the design process of any building. I just am not sure that this shift gave us something superior. It seems that the initial rendering was much more in the spirit of the north end zone. The changes throw the design out of proportion and look much less impressive.
(I know I'll get some flack for this post [Germans, TLDNR, you're not an architect, etc.], but I figure there might be a knowledgeable post in the mix!)

I never noticed that before. I'll ask a friend why that changed. Either way the expansion is still an abomination to me.

Look at the size of the latest Renderings in comparison with the old Renderings. They have made it larger and it is apparent in the lastest Renderings. That must be why Miles is throwing out the 103,500 Capacity.

Just my person opinion, and I am not close to an architect, the arches go up top because that is the top of the structure. The arches place below the top maje the added upper deck look added on when you look at the first rendering. I imagine they are building it to appear as though this was the original way the stadium looked. I like the change. I've just never understood the little circles.

artistic drawings are nearly always conceptual and don't get updated through the design process.

Apparently not.

in the first rendering you can see more of the structure underneath the west upper...the newer rendering and the actual construction, you can only see one of the concrete pilings...same with the relationship with the actual west upper

Looks like an East German architect drew up the original plans

So true on both counts ( the plan and the East German reference).

Too much color to be an East German building.

I completely agree...
Why a "shift" from the more traditional/familiar lower arches to these horrid upper arches? At least lower arches project a more appealing (expanded north end zone) look.
The more painful design aspect emerges on the upper portion of the expansion. Reminds me of a Carny Carousel...Purple and Gold horses atop anyone?
Not an expert but...I'm guessing perhaps that lower arches did not physically "fit" as a feature on the upper level suite area.

The designers took something that worked and stretched it/rearranged it to the point that it evokes none of the awe inspired by the original. I'm quite disappointed, honestly.

JohnfredLSU,
Since you you don't post much, may I give you one suggestion?
Anyone who tells you "germans, TLDR, etc" is a sorry loser that can't police her own life, therefore she has to police the rant.
This is what the Admins are for, and they will take care of any repeated material.
As far as your post, we are glad you posted it instead of fearing backlash from some kid who patrols this board looking to show his internet 'balls.' There are quite a few here that have to do this....you can tell by their 40000+ posts in three years that this is the case.
Did read; liked it.

Top rendering looks best to me, with the arches underneath the upper level ring. Oh, well, Too late. Hope they spring for better video boards inside, without all the advertizing crape!

Anyone who thinks the new video boards won't have adds needs to get a cat scan. The adds will be present and will probably take up at least 50% of the screen.

I would prefer the arches actually hold something up....so like the north end zone, they should be lower.
It's still head and shoulders better than the west upper deck design.

By the time they get all the Coke, McDonalds, Cox, Banks, etc. signs up you will not be able to see it anyway.
