re: Puerto Princesa, Philippines - TigerattheU
I think it starts early in the morning and you are finished by 3 or 4pm. They take you to a couple islands for snorkeling and then lunch on Cowrie island. It's not something you need to book far in advance, so you can verify the schedule with the agency you pick. We thought the tour offered by ou...

re: Puerto Princesa, Philippines - TigerattheU
I was there last year and did the Honda Bay island hopping tour. That was a solid day. The underground river is the biggest attraction, but we didn't want to devote a whole day to it. Lots of the bars had live music at night, so I'd find myself there drinking cheap San Miguel beer....

Charlie's cheese and magic marker lollipop  Frank talking about Vietnam and Mac in the PTSD support group was great. "Mac can't sleep at night. He's having erotic nightmares and shite. He doesn't know what's real anymore!"...

re: Which noms for Best Picture have you seen and how do you rank them? - TigerattheU
La La Land opened in China on Valentine's Day, and I thought it was great. Arrival was certainly powerful and well-done, but I preferred La La Land. I want to see Hell or High Water next....

re: It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia S12 - TigerattheU
I've really enjoyed this season. I am very much looking forward to "A Cricket's Tale" on March 1st. I wonder if the move to FXX has the show feeling like it is in an upswing in recent seasons. As in they are given a longer leash over there, even though they can't go as far as the Christmas spec...

re: Chris Blair PBP - TigerattheU
if you didnt know the score, you would think it was a close game
I listen to the radio stream of the games and noticed this too. I'll drift out when the game stops being competitive, and he'll call a made 3-pointer like it just capped off an amazing run. I listen back in for the sco...

Can you update the score and time remaining a little more often if you're going to do the stickied game thread again? I'll be following along on my phone from far away....

re: Tigers Maul Man At Chinese Zoo NSFW - TigerattheU
I'm in China, and people were talking about this at dinner last night. They speculated that the admission was too expensive for him, and he hopped the wrong fence. The consensus was a polite version of "Darwinism, what an idiot." One guy said, "He took an unnecessary risk for little reward. It i...

re: Consider a break from Facebook. - TigerattheU
I can see giving up Facebook if your phone already has every person you want to contact. For me Facebook Messenger is by far the easiest method for staying in touch with people that are scattered all over the place. Facebook is blocked in China, and I miss Messenger....

re: What is the hardest foreign language to learn? - TigerattheU
Grammar rules are rigid and easy
I am in southwest China and learning Mandarin right now, The basic grammar has been easy to keep straight. The basic sentences are Subject-Verb-Object just like English. Also the number system is easier than English. I'm trying to learn five chara...

re: Boston Celtics to start wearing GE logo on their jerseys - TigerattheU
I wouldn't have thought Boston would be one of the first to stick a corporate logo on the jersey (though it does blend well)
Aren't we expecting every team to have a jersey sponsor in place by next season? I read this news as the Celtics came to an agreement early and announced it. ...

re: Americans think 23 percent of people are gay - TigerattheU
The Census gathers household data in the "long form," or the American Community Survey. You could self-report as an unmarried same-sex household in the survey. It is not a good measure of the sexual orientation of the population. The 2010 estimate was 646,000 same-sex unmarried households, out ...

CFB: 90-70 (752) NFL: 140-68 (78) Survivor: Dead in Week 4 I'd expect my college and NFL scores to be flipped, but that's how it goes. Considering there is nothing at stake, I take my inevitable survivor loss really hard each season. I'm happy about having my best year on the SEC Ra...
