re: Spring Game Schedule of Events and Guest Coaches - TigerattheU
They're doing a night game with some activities beforehand. They're trying to create a gameday-like atmosphere and are bringing in some former players for star power. You have to give them credit, all of this was on the Rant wishlist a few years ago. A baseball game at noon would be like G...

re: VPN for China recommendations - TigerattheU
their firewall basically renders your computer useless
I mean, maybe I got used to it. I set up my Gmail to automatically forward to an old Yahoo account. Bing and Yahoo search work. I go through reddit for sports streaming links, and they work. You can still buy and rent on iTune...

re: Clemson - expecting people to be on time is culturally insensitive. - TigerattheU
I'm a punctual person, and I like that I can depend on Chinese people to show up exactly when they say that they will. The Mongolian people were sometimes late, and I had to adapt to that reality. I was bothered that they showed up on time for buses, for example, but if it was a meeting I had sche...

I'll listen for it. I listen to the radio stream of all the games, but I can't remember if Blair does it or not....

re: Did Lyn Rollins or Jim Hawthorn Create the Train Joke - TigerattheU
I'd pick Hawthorne. I remember hearing that on the radio and thinking it was hilarious when I was a kid. That has to be before Lyn Rollins started doing LSU games because almost all of them weren't televised. It might be a common joke for many old broadcasters though, I don't know. ...

re: Travel Board Snorkelers give me your best spots - TigerattheU
I snorkeled at a sardine run in the Philippines last year. It was really eerie but a memorable experience. This [link=(https://www.divein.com/articles/diving-sardines-philippines/)]article[/link] is about diving but has some pictures. I was content just floating on top of the all that. ...

re: Spinoff: Honest question: why the hell are we opening with BYU in Houston? - TigerattheU
They are the biggest neutral site whores I've ever seen.
Alabama has played a neutral site opener every year since 2012. It is part of the landscape of college football. I'm lukewarm about the BYU game, just like the TCU opener in 2013. But both of those schools have good progra...

re: Remember how just a few years ago every tourney game was just on CBS? - TigerattheU
you had to wait in a queue before you were allowed to watch the game you wanted to see
It was a green ticket, I think. I remember doing that in 1999 or 2000. Jumping around on CBS was pretty fun but the option to watch what you want is certainly better. An early argument against...

re: Why Is Genghis Grill A Socially Acceptable Name For A Restaurant??? - TigerattheU
It is a much greater departure than Americanized Chinese food, for example. It is not even close. Not that it matters, but I thought you all would be interested in knowing that....

re: Why Is Genghis Grill A Socially Acceptable Name For A Restaurant??? - TigerattheU
And Genghis' real name was Temujin.
Nicely done. I lived there over two years. Lots of boys in Mongolia are named Temujin. Of course Genghis Khan is literally everywhere and on most of the currency. Genghis Grill isn't socially acceptable for me because that isn't Mongolian food ...

re: Puerto Princesa, Philippines - TigerattheU
I think it starts early in the morning and you are finished by 3 or 4pm. They take you to a couple islands for snorkeling and then lunch on Cowrie island. It's not something you need to book far in advance, so you can verify the schedule with the agency you pick. We thought the tour offered by ou...

re: Puerto Princesa, Philippines - TigerattheU
I was there last year and did the Honda Bay island hopping tour. That was a solid day. The underground river is the biggest attraction, but we didn't want to devote a whole day to it. Lots of the bars had live music at night, so I'd find myself there drinking cheap San Miguel beer....

re: It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia S12 - TigerattheU
I've really enjoyed this season. I am very much looking forward to "A Cricket's Tale" on March 1st. I wonder if the move to FXX has the show feeling like it is in an upswing in recent seasons. As in they are given a longer leash over there, even though they can't go as far as the Christmas spec...

re: Chris Blair PBP - TigerattheU
if you didnt know the score, you would think it was a close game
I listen to the radio stream of the games and noticed this too. I'll drift out when the game stops being competitive, and he'll call a made 3-pointer like it just capped off an amazing run. I listen back in for the sco...

re: Tigers Maul Man At Chinese Zoo NSFW - TigerattheU
I'm in China, and people were talking about this at dinner last night. They speculated that the admission was too expensive for him, and he hopped the wrong fence. The consensus was a polite version of "Darwinism, what an idiot." One guy said, "He took an unnecessary risk for little reward. It i...
