If he was eating every meal in that cage you wouldn't want to try to stop him from going in. Food, animal behavior adjustment 101.

Not the same as in our stadium. Mike adds to the atmosphere, but come on, who is really afraid of a tiger in a cage. Get real.

And, Mike leaves the stadium when the game starts. Our fans don't leave until the half.

You people are ridiculous. Have you ever tried to make a five pound house cat do something it didn't want to do?

Let alone a 500 pound animal.

More than 92,000 rabid LSU fans turn out for games in Baton Rouge, La., earning that building the nickname "Death Valley." Part of the intimidation is a live tiger mascot named Mike who is placed near the visiting team's entrance. The tradition dates back to 1936."

Exactly....and they should make his arse get in that trailer. It's not animal abuse. They're not beating him with a stick. Make it a quick trip...in and out of the stadium in less than an hour then back to his comfy home with a big steak waiting. Is that asking too much? Personally, I like seeing him paraded around the field with the cheerleaders on top.

I visited Mike on Sunday and told him he needed to get in his trailer this season.

Seriously.

No because only pussies own cats. But I do have a 100 pound German Shepherd that does whatever I tell her to do.

Mike is a bitch. Name should be changed to Michelle the Tiger. Or Mike the pampered pussy.

Put his food in the damn cage. And then let him either get in or starve...

eta: and here comes the parade of downvotes as if I just suggested we cut off his tail

Will he be getting his lazy arse in the cage or will we get some lame excuse from his Twitter account?

Why don't you walk into his cage and "force" him into his pull along?

You think animals should have the same rights as humans, don't you?

Send that résumé in. Definitely similar

And if the reason truly is the fireworks, that should be an easy decision. The fireworks add nothing

Yeah... cats are completely identical to dogs in every way. This is why Uga, Smokey, and Reveille never go to games, either.... oh, wait.

They need to get that guy that comes down to his habitat and plays with him to help with this. Mike reacts very well to that guy for some reason.

This rendition of Mike will never attend an LSU game in that trailer again, that's the situation.

Its not this tiger that is different, its the way they treat him.

They no longer drug and force him into a tiny cage to be paraded around inside an insanely loud stadium with 100k drunk people screaming at him. Could you imagine what that's like for him? I bet its absolutely terrifying.

I don't blame Mike for not wanting to do that and I certainly don't blame the vet staff for not putting him through that. Big cats are going extinct, do we really want to treat our beloved mascot like that?

People need to get the frick over it and realize this is bigger than their want to see a Tiger freak out in a cage.

They aren't in a tiny cage getting screamed at the entire time. They are domesticated animals.

I love how all the people on TD.com think they know more than our world class veterinarian school

You must not know how they used to get him in that cage and what how much it freaks them out. Stress like that is not good for the guy.
