I bet we could rent Tony the truck stop tiger for a pretty good rate. He would probably be happy to get out of Grosse Tete for the day.

So they are only trying to get him on the field 3 times this year? Next they try once? They year after never? Is there any video of them trying to get him in his cage, or do they just issue a press release.

But the statement that "He would die if released into the wild" is pure BS. A Tiger is a extraordinarily strong and instinctive animal and would more than take care of itself with no problems - with the exception being a poacher's gun.

Wait, what?

That's pretty accepted as fact that a Tiger born and raised in captivity would not make it long in the wild. I don't think even the pro-Mike in the stadium people dispute that.

And Tony the Truck Stop Tiger is an abomination. That thing is miserable and should be given to a big cat reserve or something.

And I'm not a tree hugger...like at all. I just trust vets that are trained to handle this shite.

I trust the LSU vet school to make the best decisions for Mike and support their approach.

You trust animal healthcare experts with the care of a huge, rare animal? WHAT A PUSSY!

All of you backers of the vet staff realize that it's not an issue of getting Mike into the cage, don't you? They have no problem loading Mike up when they want to. They love to parade him around at the vet school, they load him up for vet appointments and such.
Yep. This is the one thing that proves the "can't load him" line is BS. The current staff has decided that they dont want Mike at the games based on how they feel about the situation. It isnt a Mike thing

I love these threads, they bring out all the retards.

So you dont think mike can tell the difference between game day and 100,000 people on campus and getting in the trailer for something else? Proves mike is much smarter than most of yall.

Saddest part of this thread to me is that the student trainers that take of mike for free in their spare time in addition to their grueling vet student schedule get bashed. There is only 2 of them and they work their asses off.

Ignorance is bliss i guess.

Like the ones who believe Mike is going to die of a heart attack because he's put in a trailer with fans around him?

Nobody's bashing the students who work for free (lots of students do it, its called an internship)

We're bashing the veterinarian who probably gets paid very well.

7 days. The entire year consists of 7 home games. The tiger will survive.

I got a better idea, just for you. Why don't we pick some Tiger fan at random, pick them from the crowd or better yet remove them from their comfortable home, you'll be first though, and put them in Mike's cage to parade around campus and the stadium, without food, water, and OMG no beer. Make stops to hear them roar and if they don't we'll beat on the cage, yell and antagonize until they do. I'm sure they'll survive.

Then maybe you'll understand why that Tiger doesn't want to get in that cage.

You just compared a Tiger to a freaking human. That is your problem

I agree, that's dumb for several reason.

Mostly, a human could understand whats going on and would just chill and drink a Mai Tai while flipping off the opposition's fans.

Agreed. Would actually be a pretty awesome experience for a human

They keep changing their story. First it was that the stadium was "too loud" and would scare him, now it's "we can't get him in the trailer"

The head vet stated in an interview that they back the trailer up to his habitat and open the door. If he goes in (with no coaxing whatsoever), he will go to the game, if not, oh well!

He said they won't feed him, put a treat in the trailer, call him, or give any motivation to him to actually get in.

They then make the poor interns post tweets and come up with shitty excuses about why he's not going to the game.

Can you show me that?

Because this was from an interview:

quote:

"People call me with brilliant ideas. 'Put a steak in the trailer!' Oh wow, 20 years we never thought of that. When cats think something is up, they're very wary [sic] animals and this is an apex predator. He's a fully mature tiger. He's perfectly normal. They're secretive animals. Why would he ever come out of his night house and get in the trailer? The fact that he ever does amazes me."

My stepfather took care of the tiger back in the '50s. Back then the tiger was living in a cage all of the time - except for games - & he could put the tiger in one side of the cage & then he that side clean he'd get the tiger to go to the other side & he'd clean the other side. One day he was cleaning the cage & he looked up & he had left both doors open & almost had to change his pants ! ! ! There was nothing between him the tiger. There were many I times I wished the tiger had been more active ! ! !
